Went to the bike-night thing at Cycle Gear the other night, and wouldn'tcha know it- I leaned up against my '07 and accidentally made a clean spot!

Upon closer inspection the entire bike was a pig- and she hasn't seen rain since I've owned her, soooo....... Today I blew 5hrs scrubbin off the dead bugs & making the rims white. Tomorrow's the 9/11 ride from Ft. Bragg, so now she'll look good until she gets her next bath- probably this time next year!

I don't think it's paint since it looks semi-transparent in the pic. Maybe its some type of protective film?

Nope- It's an adhesive mesh. It was one of the mods Landy originally did so I don't know much about it (except removing the headlight assembly to do it looks like a pain in the ass!), but it looks like the same material you see on commercial vehicles that have a banner wrap instead of paint. Another place I've seen this stuff is on the camo-themed "Mossy-Oak" clad 4X4 pickups that are popular here in the south.

There must be balance in the universe. The five hours you spent cleaning your bike, I spent riding mine and getting her nice and dirty. Five hours in the saddle with a quick break for gas and to stretch my legs. Through the local mountains then all the way over to the coast to ride by the ocean as the sun goes down. It was a perfect day. I even have the 07 RWB. She might not be as pretty as yours, but I sure do love her. I guess it's my turn to clean tomorrow while you ride. Nah...screw balance in the universe! I'm going to ride again!
