Also wanted to thank everyone for all the valuable info on this site. with my project, i'll be checking in quite a lot more. Maybe i'll have some info to share with everyone.

Thanks guys, the lift is from Harbor freight. I tried looking on cgaigslist but they were asking for some crazy prices on there and most looked like they were 20 yrs old and covered in grease. The Harbor freight one was $499 but I had a 20% coupon which brought it down to $400. I think they have some good sales if you can catch them. Seems to be a good lift so far, fairly sturdy. I'm getting too old to be kneeling on the garage floor.
Ridervfr: this bike was on graigslist in Tenn, i've wanted one of these for some time now. It was pretty beat up but all the plastics were there and started and ran fine so i drove up there and picked her up.
Question for you guys, what kind of brake pads are you guys using and how are they holding up?? anyone try the ceramic pads?

I keep seeing that lift in their ads and think "do I really want $300 holding up my VFR??????" Glad to hear a review on one.

Another sick mind with two of the same bikes as me. Sorry to break the news to you but your 07 is a slower color than my RWB.

    Looking good!!

I've been debating getting my wheels painted/powdercoated. Wheels definitley make a huge improvement on the looks.

All those parts go into a fork?? ............. new gold valve .................... new bushings ....................... almost there ....................... done ................................both done..

I would have posted more pics of the fork rebuild but there was a lot of head scratching, tools thrown, foot stomping and a few tears. Don't know if it's me but the race tech directions could
have used some better instruction or at least some more diagrams.

There is a guy right around the corner from me, he said he is one of the few who powder primes the parts before he paints. From some of the paint i had to scrape off of other parts...... it sure is sticking good.
The wheels came out really good and i thought it would be expensive but he only charged me 250 for both rims.

Yeah..... i like to clean all the old grease and dirt off, so much nicer to work with and see what your doing.
I didn't use a press, probably should have but instead i used a large 1/2" socket and the good ol hammer. They came out pretty easy. I did buy a slide puller for the needle bearings but those babies wouldn't budge. I left them in before i did some real damage and cleaned with kerosene and then repacked real good. I did use a bearing driver for the re-install though.
