I have a 1984 VF500 interceptor and I would like to repaint the motor with a high temp. spray can paint. Does anyone have a brand name and color that is close to the stock black color?

When I restored my VF, I just pulled the covers and painted them with VHT high heat paint. It's a great quality paint in a can. Remember, most of the quality is in the prep work, so do a good job with that step.

Thanks, Did you use a gloss black and just simple sand or wet sand the side covers?

PJ1 Fast black Comes in flat, gloss and satin. Satin is very close to the Honda black
Another alternative is Mercury Phantom black available from Merc marine dealers

Get a red scotch brite pad and take the gloss off of all the paint, lots easier than sanding. Some spray paint is designed for no primer like VHT epoxy, their heat resistant may be too.
