Sort of like the way they paid attention to those 2-3 complaints about just a few R/Rs..

    two words: weight and cost

for many reasons, a V engine typically weighs more than an inline engine of equivalent displacement, and is more costly to machine.
But if you're not racing, a V-engine is narrower and some V configurations are better balanced.

I don't think Honda will make one but I'm with a lot of y'all in saying that I would lover to have a v4 sport bike. I like tha Aprillas but as a couple of friends of mine have one I don't think I could go that route especially with tha utlra high maintance cost that are associated with them our local bike mechaninic won't even work on theres because of how finicky they are.

Your "local bike mechanic" isn't going to have the expertise required to work on one. If you can afford to buy one you can afford to bring it to an authorised dealership with factory trained mechanics. I used to work for a mullti line dealership that sold Ducatis. One mechanic was the designated "italian guy" and he used to go to Italy every so often for specialized training.

I think what everyone here is on about, is that they would like Honda to make a sportier version of the VFR. A newer version of the "RC" series, if you will, but with a more affordable price tag. I half jokingly said I should start eating Top Ramen, brown bagging lunch, etc., because in my heart if it was the performance bike we are all dreaming of, I would much rather own the Honda than the Aprilla. Not that I have anything against Aprilla, but I think that Honda has some of the most reliable motor vehicles made today. Yes, there are some lemons out there and even some specific issues with some models (R/R for instance) but the motors themselves seem to be pretty bullet proof.

Regardless of if they will or worn't make one, I think what most of us are trying to say here is we would prefer that Honda make the bike we are looking for rather than going elsewhere to get something close. If you look at it in terms of college sports, you wouldn't stop rooting for your Alma mater and root for another college because they were winning. No, you would want your college to build a better team! I think that's what is being said here, after all, this is a Honda VFR forum, not an Aprilla RSV4 forum.

    Peace Out!

A lot of good points have been made, I appreciate it. I would have to agree with most that money is the bottom line for why honda has not built another v4 sportbike for the street. That's to bad though. I wonder if they felt that way when they first introduced the 83 interceptor or even the 86 for that matter. Legendary bikes. The aprilla is great bike I'm sure as is the ducati v4. But I wouldn't own either one of them just because they are not hondas. I have always owned hondas and like has been said they may have some little annoying problems at times but I trust hondas. I know it is some bean counter there at honda saying it won't make enough money or it will be to expensive to build but I still keep hoping someday they will build it. And I don't care if its a 800 or a 1000. Just build one
