I around 5:11 tall & the buffeting & wind noise I get at highway speeds, especially on a day ride, is beginning to drive me nuts. My previous bike's screen was smaller, still got buffeting, but it hit me around the chest. With the VFR, its coming straight off the screen & hitting around my helmet, anything over 100 kph (60 mph) is like being slapped around the face. My 1st thought would be to go back to a lower screen. But would a taller (or different shape) screen be a better option? Does a taller screen change the handling, ergo's of the bike?

What kind of screen do you have? I have tried all 3 styles from zero gravity, stock, double bubble and sport touring. At 5'11" I like the stock style best. Having the air hit me in the chest is what works the best for me. The sport touring blocked the wind but buffeting was terrible. You just have to experiment with other screens. Remember this is not a Goldwing so you need some wind to feel the ride.

Just have the standard screen, wasn't after wind/rain protection, its just (with me anyway) the wind blast is causing turbulence around my helmet.
I figure a smaller screen would move it down around my chest. Been looking at screens from this mob: Pro Accessories Australia - MRA Motorcycle Windscreens

I have the MRA Vario and with all the adjustments you can definitely find a compromise with no turbulence, but I feel like you pay for it with more noise.

A company in the UK makes a helmet skirt called the "windjammer II" to eliminate wind noise which I got in the mail today. Works great with my ZG Sport Touring screen; I get the benefit of no wind in my chest/face from the screen, and the windjammer cuts out all the annoying "booming" and wind noise you get from being inside the wind bubble. It's pretty inexpensive too.

I wonder how Craig Vetter feels about that "Windjammer II" Name? Maybe it was too long ago!

My experience with sportbikes is that any windscreen that directs the airflow higher than the stock screen WILL result in unacceptable buffeting around the helmet for anyone of 'normal' stature. The only thing I've ever heard *might* help is a Laminar Lip - if there's one available for your screen.

What helmet do you have ?

Found I had headache causing buffeting on the VFR with my old round shaped AXO Helmet which I changed to a very neutral feeling Shoei XR1000 in early '04, now have a XR1100 still with Zero buffeting with the standard or now double bubble screen. Noise is fixed by foam earplugs or in ear Sennheisers I use with my Zumo 550, a neck scarf eg RJays also helps a little with noise.

I have tried four different screens so far, stock, Puig double bub, a touring screen and the MRA adjustable one. I even cut down a Chinese one that cracked the first time I used it.. That's five. When I finely took that dam thing off....Nirvana, perfect ! Stosh just sent me another stock screen, one that I can cut way down, I mean way down, close to the top of the dash, as close to naked as possible. Take your screen off and you will be amazed how quiet and smooth it is. If you don't want to remove your screen just stand up on your pegs and you will feel the difference immediately. This reminded me why I liked my 919 so much and it's also fun to see more ground in front of you. I liked it so much I just got me an Ebay Triumph Speed Triple naked to mess with.

I find the stock screen fine until I run into evening bugs, rain or cold weather. Than the lack of protection becomes irritating. So after reading lots of opinions I went with the ZG Touring screen. I experienced no real increase in buffeting but a definite improvement in protection. I'm 5' 8" by the way. I've come to believe that your helmet has as much, if not more, to do with buffeting. Which, if true, makes a definitive answer near impossible.
