Interesting that they didn't make you tape up your head/tail lights and mirrors before hitting the track? Any idea why? Typically if you crash they don't want glass all over the track...just curious...thx.

Its more than a good substitute...in fact ITS the only way to learn to go truely fast!

betarace, v4bear, me and others who have been through professional training on the track all have pushed beyond the normal street rider in skill. You simply cannot learn the shit CSS teaches you on the street riding around for 20-30 years.

In fact I will take it further, everyear I see people come through the MSF classes I coach whom have been riding for 10-20 years, and how they never killed themselves is beyond me as they really know nothing about motorcycle control. Yet, people conside rthem experianced riders due to the length of time they ahve been riding!? Length of time and actual skill are not the same.

One of the main things CSS teaches is you can turn a bike in so quickly, without losing the front end, taht is it scarey. I mean literally, you can snap that bike over and the front does not tuck and go down. CSS teaches this over and over in a session on the track. When I explain this to riders thay get scared and don't believe me. And thats why professional training is improtant, it breaks down the myths an dlies in motorcycleing and through thourough instruction and on hands practice, you get to practice and obtain the skills for yourself.

Heck, just look at my photos, I learned how to 'hang-off' by professionals and practiced the technique over nad over. Trust me, that is not a natural feeling on a motorcycle at first.

I went there a couple of years ago. The mistake I made was not going to a track day immediately after to embed those new skills I learned.

There were some guys at the school that had been riding for 20+ years. They were lamenting that they had waited that long to go to riding school. I wanted to take the 2-day class, but they were full so I took two, one-day classes. It's slightly less money, but not the same thing. The single classes have a rider/coach ratio of 3:1. With the the 2-day the rider/coach ratio is 2:1.

If you have the money do it.

Im surprised it took someone this long to ask that question... very observant! :) You are correct in your reasons for taping up... however, everything but the mirrors is plastic not glass so they said they are not worried about it. Yes the bulbs are glass but chances of a collision that would break thw plastic and go into the bulbs is slim. Not sure why they werent concerened about mirrors. I took them off on Sunday and while I was doing so they came over and told me it wasnt necessary. I did anyway because it was distracting to me when someone would come up behind me and I could see them. I would slow down. So I took the mirrors off to solve that. Hope this helps raptor.

I don't think Don Rickles or Wayne Newton are gonna show for this one. For sure Liberace might be there in spirit. I'd even go if Dita von Tese was gonna be there.

I just have to gloat.... my friend Mike, who got me into the cornerworking is also someone I do some work for ... becoming more full-time as days go by. Anyway, he has to be the coolest boss ever... not only did he get me into the cornerworking, but he also had me put ALL of the dates of Keith Codes Superbike School into his calendar. If he's in the right place at the right time, he can go. I just think it's awesome because I just got paid to daydream about Superbike School!! Hmmmmm.... maybe we'll have a "teambuilding day" at Superbike School one of these days.... :)
