My clutch seems to get the chatter in the morning when I get going. Is this just due to the cold oil temp in the tranny??

first a question: does it go away after a few mins? does it slip at all? are yoiu sure its the clutch? how many miles(kms) on the bike?

now some things to check, clutch free play, too tight and the clutch will not fully engage.
how new is the oil? if you answer over 2.5 months or 2500 miles you should consider changing it.
if it doesnt slip and engages good, but still sounds like glass in the tranny, you might want to pull the clutch cover and the stator cover and take a look, if you find filings then you may have a bigger problem.

and no, your clutch/tranny should not chatter when cold. I ride at -10C (20F) and have never had chattering from the clutch/tranny. Hydraulic lifters will tap when cold but will stop after 2mins of idling, if they dont then oil filter is plugged.

I did an oil change and did pull the clutch cover. Everything looked real good. I havent had a chatter since the oil change.
