    Hi there,

I posted this in the mechanics section but didnt get much responses, so I'll try here.
I broke my left mirror on my 02 VFR, and I am looking for a replacement. I wanted to get OEM but the price seemed too high. Also I saw aftermarket mirrors on ebay for a lot cheaper. Should I trust the aftermarket ones? Do they have the same type of mirror, where the objects look smaller as the original? I just did not want to purchase one and when I get it to find out that it is not worth it. Any suggestions?

    thanks

Mirrors are hugely important for your safety when you are highway driving and making lane changes. I am not saying don't go after market. There are probably some aftermarket stuff out there that could be better. But don't comprimise safety for price. My 2 bits worth. Are you old enough to know what 2 bits means money wise?

    PS,

Too bad you did not post up here two weeks ago. I just threw a left mirror set-up for an 06 in the garbage, minus the glass. Insurance bought me a new one. The arm, housing and everything except the glass was there. Minor scratches on the housing. You could have had them for the cost of shipping but I guess that is kinda mute now.

I went to a local shop and bought replacement mirrors for my 6th gen. I think I paid around 30 bucks for the pair. I was only planning on using them temporarily until my oem replacement came in but I happened to like the replacements better. They have a lower profile than the oem mirrors, which I like. They work fine, no problems. So, I guess if I needed to do it again, I would look around in some local shops and see what they have on the rack.

Bite the bullet and replace your mirrors with OEM ones. When you go to sell the bike it will be worth more
and in the meantime you will probably have better rear vision than aftermarket ones.
Buy first class stuff and you won't be disappointed.

On a ten year old bike the plastic materials on the OEM mirrors will have oxidized some. Slap on a new OEM and you'll have a mismatch. There are some restorative products on the market but they are so-so at best.

If this is the route chosen It looks from the outfit above's fitment guide, the mirror is kinda universal to several Hondas. A bike wrecking yard might be a good source.

did you break the actual mirror, or the housing/stem?
if you only broke the glass, not common, but possible, you can go to a local glass shop with the housing and have them cut you a piece of mirror to fit, then simply epoxy it in place
