    Hi guys
Almost finished the rebuild fired up with some issues.
Revs are very erratic lights dim u p and down, only rev the engine when the clutch is in.
If the clutch lever is out when you rev it stalls. Rev counter just go goes up and down even at low revs. When you actually rev the counter shows true reading.
Loud gear noise from behind the Crankcase cover at low revs and slight engine knock.
In gear on centre stand the sprocket bearing sounds rough
Part from that runs great lol
    Any help?
    Cheers
    Chris

What all did you do on the rebuild?

Check all your grounds. I forgot to bolt a small one down and it ran erratic and the tach and temp gauge were all over the place.

As far as the engine noise, could be a bunch of things but try the grounds first then we can maybe see whats actually making noise.

Yes Chris. On my bike it was 2 green wires on an eyelet that bolts to the frame under the seat. It was acting funky till I realized my error. The 500's are probably different so look around for anything loose. Check the cable from the engine to the battery. Make sure your coil connections are good and connected correctly same goes for the ignition box.

Did you have the motor apart? Mess with the starter clutch?

    Hopitt88 you are a legend!

I found a ground connection as you suggested on the harness just under part of the frame at the back of the bike. I checked the continuity and didn't think it would make much difference.
BUT ........ The lights were great and the bike now ticks over like a dream!!!!

Thank for the help this has now put in in the right frame of mind to complete , despite the pinholes in the tank and other issues

    Cheers
    Chris
