Greetings everyone, Being this is my first post on the forum, I wanted to introduce myself. After months of considering options for a new motorcycle and hovering over the thought of a VFR1200F, I finally decided to take the plunge. The decision was better served when a local dealer was extending the benefit of a Big Red rebate to the consumers on a 2010 model in hopes of making inventory for the '12s. Initially I had a better lead on a new VFR but the dealer sold the motorcycle the day before I arrived to buy it. All I can say is bad carma, man! I'll come back to haunt you. Luckily, another dealer in the state had discovered their '10 wasn't showing up on Cycletrader and I was the lucky soul to find it the day they fixed the problem. It just meant I had to drive my 2000 ZRX1100 up the I-5 corridor from SW Washington to Woodenville (about 160 miles away) on a Friday afternoon. After 4 hours on the road in traffic and torrential rainstorms of biblical proportion, I arrived to the dealer with minutes before closing. Fortunately, the wife called the dealer to let them know I should be there (worried cuz she hadn't heard from me.) So after sealing the deal, I then turned around and rode through the same catastrophic storm on a new motorcycle with new tires by the way and navigated my successfully home. On my way down, I rode the viffer thinking, 'man if you can handle a first date of this caliber I can't wait to see how the 2nd date and so on goes.' To my pleasure and absolute joy of riding, I was not dissapointed. In fact, I almost feel like I have become a born-again student of riding, learning that the viffer has more power than I'm used to, but I'm happy to learn how to harness it's energy. Every day I get home from work almost immediately I'm reminding my wife how much I love that machine. Of course I have found some nuances that I'm not entirely happy with...mysterious dip in the powerband in 1st and 2nd, lack-luster gas mileage, strange false neutral between 4th and 5th gears...shoot man, who cares! That can be dealt with or tolerated. It is worth every dollar and I'm only at 500 miles. I can't wait to do the oil change and really see what she can do. No regrets! To anyone out there in VFRWorld, if you have any advice for a new VFR1200F owner related to need-to-know's, gotcha's, etc., feel free to send comments my way. I look forward to reading your advice and talking with y'all again soon. Cheers everyone, Nate aka 'nthielman'
