I happy to see that everyone that has had this bike seems to love it, oh course you guys are all bias for the VFRs. lol. The more I read up on this thing the less I want to give it away. Might just have to keep it myself and just let my friend ride sometimes. lol. He's going to kill me. lol.

You will want to free up and lube the sliders on the three calipers as well. Real bad for sticking and causing that mushy feel to the lever. Use a good silicone based brake lubricant for this.. silglide is good.

    Bingo or download one online.

Also don't ride it, you will want to get rid of your Buell (not biased, I had one Buell that is)!

I agree with others with the 10-40 semi-syn & the Honda Oil like that is pretty good, especialy with the older bikes. K&N oil filter would be my choice & flushing out the brake fluid with new & lubing the calipers.

Also how old are the tires ??? they may look good but with older tires come hardness & cato failure . so ck them good, I don't know what make they are but all Manufactures's have a manufacture date on them.

Unlike your Buell, the Jap bikes have the motor & tranny oil as the same !!!!

I told you not to ride it !!!!!!:yield:

Its to late you have already heard the hum of the motor. You want to see why 4 or better than 2 pistons.

Maybe one day I will get one, but I seem to amass things like bikes. My next few are the ones that I liked as a kid in the early 80'. I'm looking for a good FJ 1200 now.

That is a nice bike if you like that sort of thing. (which I do) In the spirit of forums that I frequent, I say get both.

    Nice looking X1, dup!

I have a heavily modified M2, and a 4th gen VFR...the wife nicknamed them Beauty and the Beast.

Other than the fact they both have two wheels, these bikes couldn't be more different. The VFR is smooth and refined, and inhales miles effortlessly. The Buell is rowdy and unrefined, requiring you to pay attention to keeping the front tire on the ground.

    I love them both.

Actually you can. 10w30 is too light and 10w40 should only be used in the extreme early and late parts of the season. 20w50 is the oil of choice.

Ha, I like that. He might be able to borrow it. I might not have a bike if I keep getting in trouble with the cops. Went out on the KTM today, and had the cops pull in my driveway just a few minutes after I got off it. 4 people complaining about it. We are aloud to drive the side streets where I'm from, but some people just don't like bikes at all. Oh well. It happens, I guess I will have to keep the front tire on the ground more often.

Ya, I'm all about having a bunch of bikes. Some are good for the miles and others are good for being a hooligan. See the above post about the Hooligan. lol.

Why is it that the front wheel stays on the ground for the VFR's?

There's a guy around here that has a Buell thats all blacked out with some wicked sounding pipes. (for those of you not from Maine wicked=awsome or similar descriptive word.) I used to live in NC and people thought when I said wicked it was a bad thing. also most of them thought Maine was part of Canada.

Temps that I ride run from ~45 degees F to hot summer ~100 tops. I run 10w40 full time for that range. Its was Honda suggests in the owners manual.

I use what I have learned with cars. And Smaller engines. I don't use thicker stuff because it robs power that I could use on the road. And thinner stuff (unless synthetic) will find a hole and leak. However, the oil thing maybe as personal as the bike thing. To each his own.

I didn't know that you guys still said wicked! I thought you moved on to cool beans and dropping your are's. But that is wicked cool that you stick to da classics.
