IMO, it would be far less trouble to just buy a heated seat than using a hot pipe for warmth.

im not in need of a heated seat to warm my candy ass. and i was considering a 6 gen look for the back but im going to high mount the 2b i have on it and call it done, since all but paint is done already. and im not doing sliders now, i might leave the stock paint for this season to get my ride on and finish it when im reloacted. im not winning any awards with mellow yellow anyway.

Maybe you can get the guys in the motor pool to do one of those paint jobs like the USMC has on those diesel bikes..;) It would be the first VFR in camo.. Might even get you another stripe..

Yep, Seen that on the Army guys. Very stylish.. Gotta keep in mind that the promotions are still determined by the old school who for camo, is fine. Besides, that pixelated paint is hard to find in a rattlecan and camo is on the shelves at WalMart.. ;) That facepaint that the bad boys use if pixilated might take a makeup artist to apply and woe be to the MoFo who makes smartass remarks to those guys.

    BullDog,
Take a deep breath and settle down a minute. You have what is considered a great bike.
Don't start molesting it just because you have the urge to do so.
Personally, what I think you need to do (as we use to do in the old corps),
is to figure out your mission. What do you want to do with this bike?
Is it just to go back and forth to work? If yes, then why even think about a supercharger kit?
Sounds to me like the only reasonable mod might be the lowering kit, nothing more.
Always think about the day you might sell it.
In the future, when you do sell it, you will find that dollar-wise "stock is king."
    Carry on ~

Harley and cruiserdoods sometimes develop some really strange riding habits. Could be the reason this guy wants to do a changeup on his linked system is because of the over use of the rear brake.

I learn these things watching Oprah.

Good point, Billy. I was watching some youtube video last night of guys riding "the snake" on Mulholland (I lived in L.A. for 7 years) and saw plenty of bad braking leading to all sorts of wipeouts.

I'm no speed demon, but I have pushed my VFR a little bit on our local canyon roads and the LBS is fine when you remember it's there. I don't consider it worth the time and expense to de-link.

If you are outriding the capability of the LBS, then you really need should be on a track.

Oprah is on Utube too. ;)

Some of the over use or primary application of the rear brake may be partially from the now standard configuration of rear brake and shift levers. Makes one wonder why the GP bikes are so backward.. Just speculation but in a four wheeler the right foot goes for the brake and becomes an established pattern. a possibible explanation why so many dudes hit the rear binders first. Not a good thing..

In days of yore or those "thrilling days of yesteryear. Shift patterns were not only on the "wrong" side but "upsidedown" as well. It almost varied from bike to bike. I think pretty much the German bikes were the standard that is used today.

Hopefully no one will want to bring back tank shifters, suicide clutches and throttles on the left bar..

I grew up in LA. What is now called Carson and the LA Harbor area.. Los Ratones de Embarcadero.

    agreed

I am with you guys on this one, also. I have had bikes for thirty years and have no problems with the Linked Brake system. I ride pretty fast or hard on mine and brakes are very assuring. I have no problem stopping shorter than I need to stop. Take some time and ride it for a while. I think you will appreciate the engineering.

IMO the dudes that are or say they are anti-linked brakes, A: shouldn't piss off their money buying a bike equipped with same and B: are probably wet dreaming about being identified as one or more of the really fast guys. The only fast guy I know who has a VFR (with linked binders BTW) is Reg Pridmore and he is over 70. Seen ol Reg whup some ass on that scooter a couple of years ago packing double.. Felt it some too being in the peanut gallery at the time..

I love the planning! I do a lot of painting but I've never really drawn out the bike! Painting the wings may be tedious to tape off, unless you can get fairing size decals. But I think blacking out parts with matte black would be pretty cool, say little accents around the tail lights or headlights with the balcked out lights. Reminds me of that late 60's early 70's yellow / matte black muscle car look. But agree with Tink, chrome may seem a bit out of place. And as for the PAIR, etc, if it ain't broke don't fix it... for the most part.
