I am looking at purchasing my first pair of leather pants. Not for track riding...more for touring protection.
I have researched the Tour Master Apex Air. Considering ordering them on line. Just found a local fantastic deal on the Teknic Chicane leather pant.
I have a Teknic Chicane Jacket...and they will mate zippers.
My concern about the Chicane is the lack of perforation.
    Any advise would be great!!

    Thanks!

If the Chicane pants are that good of a deal I would say that may be your best bet. They will allready match up with your jacket and seem to be cheaper if I'm reading right. Plus, if they're too hot for you, you can get them perforated by a local leather worker. The leather workers near me that work on track suits also do perforation, see if you have anyone near you.

I tried the Chicanes on locally. They will price out the same as the Tourmasters...despite retailing for $40 more. The local Chicanes are a size 38. I am a 36 waste. There was definitely some wiggle room. Not sure how tight the leather pants should be. The sales person was very little help. My jacket fits snug and I love that. I always though the pants should be a little on the snug side and that they would break in.
    Any thoughts?

My take is that they should be snug, but not too snug. You'll want a little breathing room but not swimming in them. You also should factor in your common fluctuations in weight, do you typically gain a few pounds in winter then lose it in spring/summer? What is your average weight/size and use that as a baseline. Make sure you sit on a bike when your all "geared" up. Reach for the bars, tuck in, move about, if your body motion is hindered or the pants/jacket move too much, then the sizing is wrong. Also consider going up in sizing if you'll be wearing any extra body armor underneath or factor in with what other type of clothing you would typically be wearing. My two piece suit fits me rather snug, but I do have some "stretch" room. If I'm on the street I'll typically wear just the suit, but if I'm going to be on the track, I have just enough room to add a Knox Armor back protector without choking myself out. That's my two cents.

    Cheers!

OOTVS's advise seems sound, and I've not worn a fitting pair of leather pants yet so I'm not much help there. If they're the same price it seems like a no brainer to me, get the one's allready perforated like you want. Only thing I have a problem with is ordering something I haven't tried on yet to see if it fits as sizes can very quite greatly between manufacturers, and sometimes just between models by the same manufacturer.

I've got an older teknic chicane suit kicking around and a Joe Rocket speedmaster jacket with blaster pants I currently wear. The heat in either is bearable, provided you keep moving LOL.

Do yourself a favour and go to walmart and grab a pair of their athletic works fitted pants, they run about $15 a pair and make getting in and more importantly out of your leathers after a long days ride so much easier. I did 11 hours on the bike riding down to PA and back last week and when I got home my leathers slid right off.

I crash tested a pair of the Chicanes for you last December. Generous, huh?

I had extra hip padding in them, knee sliders, but they were otherwise exactly as they came. I lowsided in a right hander, and the bike wound up on my right leg as we slid across the road. The foot rest tore a hold in the non-leather part of the pant leg, and the right knee ground off all of the leather over the knee armor. I came away with only a small abrasion on my right knee. It looked like a rug burn. Overall, I was very pleased at how they held up.

However, I will tell you that I replaced the zipper at least three times - finally taking the pants to a leather/shoe repair place and having an industrial-strength zipper sewn in.

    Good luck!
