Hummmm.......That is correct I bought my Silver new in 05 and only other year I know is 02 or 03. This is a tough one. Check the tittle make sure it is not Salvage and maybe ask him to remove the fairing to check for any sign of road scratch and check the frame to see if there any dent or kink. If you are not feeling comfortable walk away......Othewise you will not be happy.

Craig, I wouldn't tell to many people here your anal-JMO--- Did you ask the PO if he ever laid it down or dropped it ?? But seriously, what Chris said ALL those extras ------- Did you test ride the bike ? does it track straight when you let go of the bars ?? Do what Scuby said, really take a good look and bring another set of eyes, they may see something you overlook

    Chris, for starters.....Tell me you have a '71 Mach 1. If it has a 4-speed I hate you! ;-)

Yes, I typically get paralysis by analysis......If the test ride goes off well tonight I'm gonna buy it even with the color question.

Yes I did ask him, the current owner stated "The bike has not been dropped, down or damaged" and in response to the color issue.."I have had the plastic off and it has all Honda part numbers on it. No road rash or damage to frame, swing arm, forks and engine components. I figured the prior owner just swapped the plastic or the dealer did it for him".

When I met him he appears to be a stand-up guy(and a Nuclear Engineer) so I'd like to think he's honest and forthright.

Thanks for all the greetings, advice and compliments on my new-to-me VFR guys! I've learned so much in such short order about this bike from reading these forums. Cannot wait to dig in and start the fun of routine maintenance and riding the heck out of this bike.

While I havent put more than 1/2 mile on it yet(got her registered earlier this afternoon), this bike feels and sounds like no other bike I've owned(GSXR1000, SV1000S, ZX-9R, SV650, Goldwing, ZZR600 and more). The Remus exhaust without the baffles sounds sinister!
