Guys, I'm in need of a trunk rack for my soon to be mine 2004 VFR. This bike already has the OEM Honda saddlebags with side racks. I intend on installing a givi trunk and am curious about trunk racks. Whats brands are compatible with the OEM side racks/bags?

If I remember, the givi rack won't work with the OEM side case mounts, you will either have to go with stock, or you will have to try one of the other aftermarket bracket sets, and use the givi trunk mount with the aftermarket brackets. There are several out there. SW-Motech makes one of them.

    - And congratulations on the new purchase!
    - First 6th gen VFR that caught my eye was an '04 - same color as yours.

So you did buy the '04 after all. Awesome! As far as luggage, you can check out these online resellers. I have bought from all three of them and all seem to be pretty good as far as pricing and customer service. Not sure about the mounting bracket and if will work or not with the Honda side bags, but GIVI is the OEM for Honda luggage.

Craig, someone on VFRD was in the same dilemma as you regarding OEM side bags and GIVI top case. One of the members found that this mount would work...SW-MOTECH Alu-Rack Toprack (Honda VFR800 Interceptor VTEC, '02-), black - for Givi, TraX ALU-BOX, & Krauser topcases - GPT.01.208.15000.B : TwistedThrottle.com

I assume that the issue with the OEM side bags are in the way of the GIVI top case mounting brackets? This mount only uses the passenger grab rail mounts rather the rear passenger peg and exhaust mounts that the GIVI uses.

One note is that the new GIVI mount also adds brackets that attach to the passenger grab rail mounts for added strength, allowing for heavier loads to be carried without adding stress to the lower mounts.

Congrats again on your new ride.

    Cheers!

Thanks for the great advice. I went with the SW Motoech Alurack top rack as well as their adapter plate for the Monokey case. Quality and fit is stellar. For the case itself, I went with the JC Whitney Large pro-garage trunk as the price was too good to pass up(Free). The JC Whitney Large trunk as you probably know uses the same monokey mount design so its a great fit!
