I need tires, Weehls are stock 18 in back and 16 in front. What size / type tire do you all recomend. I have a 140 on the rear now - does anyone know if a 160 will fit. Having some trouble finding tires in my size range :)
    Thanx.

hey man, i was just on the same search for info on tires and found the following(these are all based on what other guys were saying in different forums, i haven't tried any of these tires): the best tire for the front are the metzelers ME33 (110/90V16) heard too many good things about this tire like good tread wear, good wet weather riding, excellent handling, and so on. so to match the set you can go with the ME55 rears, or the older ME99s(for 130/80v18 ). now both ME33 and ME55 are being replaced by the ME330 and ME550, if you look at the catalogue, these are a bit cheaper but the tread patterns are different.  it's hard to find ME33s so you have to be patient. if you can't find 110s then 120s will work okay (based on what i've heard other guys say). THe Dunlop GT501s also got decent reviews but the consensus is that they wear a bit quicker(also the cheapest set i found). the Bridgestone Batlax BT45s got an okay review, but guys were saying that these are only good for city riding and nothing aggressive on the turns.   don't go bigger than 140s as the tire will get pinched and mushroom and wont handle as well. i've got 140's now and i don't feel as confident on the turns as the wheel is almost square (they're low profile) so i dont get as much contact.  i've also heard good things about avons and macadams, check em out.  you're choices might boil down to what's available as both sizes are getting harder and harder to find. if you find ME33s grab em!! good luck! i think www.denniskirk almost had all these tires.  try www.revsperformance as well, awesome people to deal with!

Well myself I have gone for  a wheelswamp to get newer radials but there is still some options to stock wheels. Heres what I find awable where I live.

I do not agree that the Bridg bt45 is just a town tire, It offers good grip and deasent feel. the only complain is the milage and front cups. (have to say the older bt35 was better in every way).

Well the metz me33 and me99/me55 where great tires at time but disign is old and newer are awable, a me330/me550 is awable in stock front and a 140/70 rear but only in H speed rate not V that recomended.

Newer disigns comes from dunlop in gp501,comes in stock vfr size. Have no coment on them but older k825 where slippery in my opinion.

Pirelli have a new Sport Demon that on my wifes xj600 div./seca2, have a amaceing grip and feel, dont know milaget yet but seems to wear well. coms in stock and 10 mm wider size. Highly recomended!

Well then Avon has come out whit a new Roadrider in stock and 10 mm+ rear size. Not tryed.

Continental has a TVK11/22, a ok tire, reae in fact good, front lack last bite of grip in bracking.

For size I strongly recomend stock 110/90 front. I have tried a 120/80 front and it slower the steerin alot, not god. For rear stock 130/80 or 140/70.
