Ok, well let me first start off by saying im new here and sorry if this is "one of those" questions :flamer:
But as the title says im looking for new tires for my 83 Interceptor that i just recently picked up, i am looking for something that sticks well not really to concerned about tread life. i do ride rather aggressively at times.

Thanks in advance for any help

Unless you have done the CBR-F2 Wheel Mods? You are limited to Bias Ply tyres.
I have Bridgestone battlax 45's on my Ole-Girl? They have been good for my personal riding style, & abilities.

    Welcome to the forum!
I hope you enjoy your tyme here, & :worthless:

I'm gonna steal some of Paul's thunder on this one. The CBR 600F2 front wheel is a bolt on upgrade for your VFR. If I recall correctly, you need to change out the fender. I also think you can use the existing brake calipers/rotors, but the F2 pieces bolt on and give you better stopping to match the upgraded tires. It has the mechanical drive you need for your speedometer and lets you use modern 17" rubber. You should definitely upgrade the wheel and then buy some Dunlop Q2's. That tire gives you track level grip.

Sweet! Another twin sista to mine.
If you go to the photo galleries & then to members gallery, you can see photos of mine. Just rolled a bit over 14,000 on her.

You can go to the First & Second Gen. Page / Forum & there is a sticky thread on the subject ( The header is in regards to 2nd gen. but it is applicable to 1st gens as well), Also doing a forum search will help. Lastly here is a fellow member's site that specializes in VF & VFR Mods. Daugherty Motorsports - Motorcycle Suspension Performance and Modification

I just installed one of Jamie's rear mono-shocks, Way better then the stock air assist showa we got stuck with on the 1st gens.

    No prob :thumb:
Would rather have someone more knowlegeable then myself, give him the info!

Give it a few days, & if someone has that part available & reads this thread, they will contact you.
Others wise, go to the Classifieds & make a parts needed thread!

I'd caution against the BT45 tires. They are nice but VERY thin, I actually had a puncture from a small piece of gravel on the roadway with more than 1/2 tread left. Made for a long walk home. I've swapped to Shinko 712 rear and 740 front. I had to lower the air pressure from the bt45 because the Shinkos are thicker. They seem to track better and I've pushed them pretty hard they have done well.

The Dunlop GT501 front sucks, the rear ok. The best bias ply I have found that really works great is the Continental Conti-Go's. Great tires wet or dry and can run them down to the chicken strips with confidence. Check them out.

Not a bolt on affair directly, you need a conversion kit. With the parts we make the F2 wheels will bolt in without any other modifications. It's a very nice upgrade indeed.

Aside from that, I suggest either Bridgestone or Dunlop tires. Anything else isn't really worth putting on there. If you are looking to save a few bucks the Chinese brands are an option, just don't expect much "value" from them. Good luck!
