Just wanted to say hello and thank you for all of the great info I've already found on VFRWorld. I live in Maryland and yesterday (Sunday 10/14/12) drove to Raleigh NC to purchase a beautiful 2001 VFR800FI. I drove over 600 miles round-trip and, now looking at the bike in my garage, would have driven 1200. The bike looks fantastic (near mint) and has 12600 miles, which I feel is low mileage after having searched the local and internet ads for a while. Got a plate for it today and expect to take my first ride Wed. Tomorrow I'm taking the wheels to a local dealer to have new tires mounted/balanced. Can't wait.

Sounds like a real score there! I will admit to being a bit partial to 5th gen, but they are much coveted machines. Keep her safe, treat her well, and ride the living cr*p out of her!
Of course, it's all just :blah: talk without pictures! Post up, man!

12600 miles is a pittance. Get out and ride ASAP. She is good for many many miles if properly maintained.

    BTW....welcome to the funny farm

This is the lone shot I took on the trailer at the seller's home. Would've taken more, but I had just driven 5 hours and wanted to get the heck out of Dodge knowing I had 5 more to get home.

It's midnight...just got the wheels off in preparation of new tire installation (was so anxious I bought the tires before I picked up the bike)...and see it is in need of brake pads. Might as well do it now. It has been well maintained (thanks Martin).

These are the pics from the seller's ad. I'll take some when I get the wheels back on.

Here's two shots with the wheels off waiting for tires and brake pads.

That right there.......should be the absolute last time this wonderful piece of machinery should ever be on a trailer unless it will not run. Understood?

So Sunday 10/14/12 I bought the bike...Monday I removed the wheels and got the new tires mounted/balanced, then to the MVA to get is registered...When removing the wheels I saw that it needed new brake pads so I ordered them online (EBC's from Amazon.com)...Received them Wednesday and installed them that night...Thursday, I took it to get inspected. As expected it passed. Rode from the shop that inspected it directly to the MVA to get the full registration (not temporary). Now she is safe and legal.

So she is legal, your next task is to take a road trip and post a story and let us know what you think.
