I have a well loved 92 VFR that I have enjoyed for the last 15 years. Several months ago, the carbs finally went sour, to the point that my amateur carb cleaning skills could not resurrect them to run right. I basically lost the use of my bike.

After looking around, I found a guy in Texas named Billy Carr and we had a few good conversations about the carbs. He is an old V45/V65 guy and knows a few things about the V-4 carbs. I sent him my carbs with instructions to rebuild and polish them. When I got them back they looked great and he had replaced the majority of the screws with stainless steel allen head screws and polished the exteriors. He also removed the limiters that restrict the idle mixture adjustment range. His prices were very reasonable and he did more that what he was supposed to do for the agreed price.

I received them back on Tuesday night and quickly dropped them in the bike. I primed the fuel pump and the biked started right up and idled fine without any adjustment or throttle.

I warmed up the motor and played with the idle mixture screws but could not seem to improve on where he had preset them. I ended up leaving everything just as I took it out of the box. I guess the carbs had been having problems for longer than I anticipated since the motor sounded much "crisper" and revved harder than I ever recall in recent years.

I am a very happy camper at the moment and, although the bike is running better than I can ever remember, I am pretty sure that it will run even better once they are professionally tuned and sync’ed. If you would like any more info about his work, feel free to contact me or him directly at billycarrjr@earthlink.net. I seriously doubt that you will be disappointed with his work.

Glad it worked out. Many have complained that BC takes forever to finish a project.

I do professional carb work too, quality work, 35 years experience, charge way less than BC, and usually turn around jobs within 10 days to 2 weeks.

Good information for all to know, and options are never a bad thing. At the time when I was looking for someone to do the job, I did not see many options and was simply happy to end up with a good result.

I had the stock oem carb ova-haul kits sitting in my tool boxes for months and finally did the job (my cost was 25 us dollars per carb.) For a 21 year old bike, it was kind of preventative maintenance. The carburetor synchronization is dah devil on the gen 3 bike. I can attest to this as I have fond memories of burnt knuckles and using an inspection mirror working upside down and backwards to get at the adjusting screws, can I say F-Honda? I just did, pay off is that the bike takes throttle off the cunts hair perfectly with properly balanced carburetors...

AnywhoOOooo- Enjoy that gen 3 bike, its a super-uber-sweet-heart. High Ice-Hunchin
