clutch lever replacement issues,please help!!

hey guys I got a problem,I've been spending all weeking putting on new mod's and everything has been smooth until i got till levers.here's my problem I started on the clutch lever and got it pulled off and a black little rod under the screw came off with it but I can't get it off oem lever and put it on new one.I'm putting up pics to show you,any help would eally be appreciated.

 

oh by the way my bike is a 01 vfr800 fi(5th gen)

 

The piston must be galled (corrosion is likely culprit) and came out with the old clutch lever. You need to remove little rod (should just pull out) and the brass pivot from the old lever. Then clean them and put them back in the new lever. Fit the rod back into clutch M/C assembly before you put the new lever on and grease the bras pivot and rod going in. I like to use green grease.

Yeah I finally got it put but I didn't clean it or grease it so I'll go get some, do I need to just wipe everything off or actually put it in water and clean it.

 

Josh wipe them clean prior install with wd40 or Maxim cleaner. Not water

 

I agree with Scuba. Use some kind of degreaser to make sure you get all the old grease off the old parts. It's probably more like glue at this point.

Duuuuh, what the heck is "Green Grease"?
Other than grease that is green, that is.
