Ok guys I'm doing the 01 vfr800 mono shock conversion to cbr 929 shock. My question is I've seen the 00 929 shocks(white) and I've seen the 01 929 shocks(yellow) and did they do anything different to those shocks performance wise, also when I put them on will I have to make adjustments,I weigh 175lbs and I'm 6" and does this conversion really make the differance as far as riding performance? Also do I need to put in some new fork springs and what would be a good wieght? I ride with a group of guys and we go to the mountains for a day ride, most of them ride gsxr's cbr's ect ect and I'm a good rider not being cocky but when it comes to riding with my group I cant keep up in the curves wich is embarrasing knowing I can lol. Also my rpm idle is 1100 warm,if I set it @ 1400rpm would that be too high? Also my colde idle rpm is 500 so what should I set that too? In the service manual is says something about the timing light, what is it and where is it? I doesn't say.Any ideas or comments would help Thank you

I'd recommend seeking out a local suspension guy who can see you ride, how you brake etc, and make an appropriate recommendation.

I have racetech .95 in the front and they are better than stock, but not the same as the GSXR, etc. The rear I ride is a Penske set for a 200lb rider and it helped a lot. I agree with Tink. If you can get with someone with a little suspension knowledge, they can help you a lot. I think my 98 idles around 11-1200 but I'm not certain.

It's kinda hard too find someone in my area,I've called every mechanic and dealership I know and they know how to put it on but thats as far as it goes,I think I'm just gonna set my rpm to about 1300 and my cold to 1400 cause my cold is so low it cuts off if I dont keep reving it.I'm soclose to having her where I want, after the shock conversion and new yoshimura Rs-3 exhaust only thing I have left is the paintjob(450).And she'll finally be modified the way I want,I've been working on her for 4 months.

There's no race circuit in your area? In my experience, these suspension gurus are one man shops that only do suspension and sometimes they only do it part time. If there's a race track in your area, that's where you will find it.

ok this is off the topic, but I went to lube my chain and check coolant level, well I lubed chain and looked at coolant resourvior tank and it looked empty,so I started pouring coolant in and it over-flowed(eye sight going out),so will it be ok or do I need to drain it somehow? It's above the full line,I just didn't know if this will hurt it or not. Also after putting on chain lube how long do I wait till I ride it? any ideas would help, thanks

On the coolant, suck some out using a Turkey Baster! You don't want this overflowing on to the rear tire. On the chain lube, best to lube when chain is warm. Wait 20 minutes for lube to jell. Overnight is better!

You should drain the excess coolant, but it won't hurt anything if you don't. (it will just spill out onto the ground when the engine gets hot.)

I try to lube the chain after a ride, while it's still warm, and wipe any excess of before the next ride. (usually after it has say for a couple of hours.)

Try to set the idle at 1200 or 1300 when warmed up.

Coolant will spill on the ground and can cause a slippery rear tire if you run over it.

It's one bolt holding the reservoir. Just remove the bolt and pour the coolant out the top.

    Pretty sure idle is 1200.
