Has anyone had any success with painting their clear stock windscreen black, how does it look? I was thinking a flat black would look cool if it can be done right.

I know a guy that painted his ('08) on the backside with favorable results. Forget what he used, may have been the spray on tint.

Try using plasti dip, easily removable if you do not like it.

i've done it gloss black and painted inside of the screen. The advance painting inside is that the paint is safe of stones, bugs or what ever flying to your screen. I think that if you paint the screen inside it will turn out gloss even if mat black is used, so if you want matt, screen should be painted outside.

What about tinting the screen? Have often wondered about this.

    About windscreens:Motorcycle Fairings and Windshields

Flat or matte on the inside will be gloss on the outside. (lens effect) Best IMO to paint both sides.

All sorts of "plastic" used for windscreens.

    !. Clean it.
    2. Sand with at least 400 grit wet N day sanpaper or sanding sponge. ( I like 3M use warm water and a little shot of detergent)
    3. Prime. Two routes here...actually three. First is just skipping the primecoat. Plastic primer is available at automotive paint suppliers. Like automotive paint it is not cheap. A good substiture is Krylon Fusion.
    4. Paint it. Best buy IMO for a lasting coating is to use a catalyzed flat automotive primer. Or, a specialty shop might have some flat or can make enough up to do a windshied.

Cleaned the backside of the screen, taped off what I didn't want black and sprayed it with Krylon Fusion. Been fine for about 12,000 miles. If in the future, for whatever reason, it starts to look bad...I'll just redo it. Takes about an hour and $5.

I did something similar with some CR fairings on my Duc. There's a whole sub-culture out there that use plasti-dip for their cars. www.dipyourcar.com they have whole kits from paint to spray gun, glossifiers, etc. Peels off just like contact paper. Personally I think it was a better choice than pure paint. If you don't like the color, pick a different one!
