    Just did.

The one in the Netherlands confirmed that they had the case, but only in the petrol blue.

The other link wrote me this today after I gave them the OEM paint code for the blue.

"I have to conclude that we never had the colour in any form on the UK/European market. I know for sure we never had that special edition finish as all our VFR800's were just one colour versions. It must have been US market only, as would the accessories have been. Honda will not supply accessories outside the market they were intended for. "

So, right now, we are back to square one: buy any year case in any color you can, and buy the Colorrite blue, and have it sprayed.

I know a guy @ Honda HQ who has been trying to track down more info on the blue top case for me/us. Got back to me today. He said in the US there hasn't been any available top case that came in blue from Honda. I sent him the fotos I grabbed from this site from a member with the top case mounted on the bike as proof. He claims there is a bike over in the UK that is 1000cc's (but he didn't remember the exact model) that the top case is the same color as the VFR Anniversary blue and that has been compatible on the mounting brackets for the VFR.

I wrote him back, and asked if the bike he was talking about was the HONDA VARADERO 1000 cc, and if the color was the Petrol Blue, as mentioned earlier in this topic. Which we know ain't a match.

I'll report back when I hear back from him. I'm thinking this is the bike and color he's thinking of, esp. since a member here had the same idea.

PS I'll grab the foto of the Petrol Blue case now so we'll have it preserved in case the auction is over soon.

BTW, those of you with this topcase in the correct matching blue, did you buy it that way or did you have it painted? I know a few of you had it painted to match, but did ANY of you guys buy it stock in the correct blue?

I also tried getting luggage andc a top case after buying my RWB 07 new in 09. The Dealership was having a hard time getting them, let alone in the proper colors.
I actually gave up after a while and just bought the large Nelson Riggs bags, but never got a top case. I just got the matching large tail bag that attaches to the bags.
I made my own hard mounting brackets and did a few mods to make them more of a permanent fixture but still they are fairly convenient to remove if necessary. 10 minutes or so.

no I bought 06 pearl white to match my 06 bags the white is an exact match to the RWB. At the time the dealer told me he could get blue if that was what I wanted.

I know that the blue side bags were made, but as far as I know, the top box was not available for sale in the US..

I have seen a RWB with the white hard cases and it actually looked pretty good in white.

Done. Since by all HQ accounts the blue top case was never available in the US, I went ahead and bought the top case in red with the OEM bracket, and I'll have it painted locally. First I'll see if they can match the blue. If not, I'll buy the Colorrite paint. Now, I'm looking for the matching Honda grey top case luggage bag to match the saddlebag bags. Seems like they are a UK only item as well...

Any idea how hard it is to separate the top case lid from the body for painting?

The regular Honda website has the side cases in red or Blue and the top case in Black only! Very expensive! I think with mounting brackets about $800. (Case about $400 and Rack about $400)
To find it go to Honda Factory website. Go to parts and accessories, plug in year, make, model etc and it comes right up. I plugged in my 2007 and it had part numbers for red and blue but top case only in black.

I will. I also bought the solo seat rack as well, so I'll see which one I like better (and sell the other one? Hmmm...)

Got the topcase and recently had it painted to match. Total paint job cost me $100 here in SoCal. Many auto body shops that were muuuch closer to me either flat out refused to paint it, gave me BS about needing "special expensive motorcycle paint", or quoted me outrageous $450 prices. So I went to me regular body shop guy who ONLY works on/fixes/paints bikes. He's a little further out, but once again, did a hell of a job, I think, esp. since the lid doesn't come off, and he had to tape off/paint around it.

Luckily, the bike came with the OEM saddlebags along with an extra matching lock, so all 3 pieces use the same key.

The rack is a non-OEM solo rack, bought from a lister here. Apparently I got the last one, but if you like it, I *hear* he's taking orders for the next batch. I like it. I also have the OEM rack for tours with a passenger, but haven't put it on yet.

Enough talk. Here are the fotos.

PS we did not use the Colorrite paint. I took him a saddlebag and he scanned it and had the paint custom mixed.

From your photos, you can't tell. It looks like a great color match. For $100 you got a great deal as well. That is the first time I've seen a rack like that one. It looks like the top case sits further forward than the OEM. Nice job.

yeah, the rack is made/sold by a guy (KanadianKen) over on VFRD. I got his last one from this batch, but I *think* he's taking orders for the next batch. It's predrilled for the OEM "pad" and powdercoated black gloss. Basically, it moves the OEM rack "pad" and topcase closer to the front of the bike, basically putting it over the passenger seat. You can still remove/install the seat just fine, and you get a little room under it for strapping something small down if you remove the seat cowl. But no passenger accommodations. I bought the OEM rack as well in case I double up on a road trip. In fact, I don't *think* you can buy JUST the OEM base "pad", which you'll need for this solo rack.

I like the fact that it doesn't lever so far off the rear of the bike like the OEM rack does too.

If you ever get the opportunity to install the OEM rack, I'd love to hear a comparison. I too think that with the OEM, the top case seems to sit way back.

Will do. I had it pretty filled up today, and still didn't know it was back there.
