I picked up some Bel-Ray EXP Synthetic Blend 4T Engine Oil today. My bike has been running full synth so far. I wanted to try something different. It cost a small mint ($38). From what I read blend oils can help with shifting and I was hoping it would smooth out the shifts on my 5gen a little.

    Anyone ever use Bel-Ray?

Nope, but T6 has made my shifts feel like a hot knife though a brick of butter.

I use Rotella T 15w40 in my air cooled Suzuki and like it. What weight is the T6 you use? Is it 5w40? Is it ok in cold temps? I ride on some pretty cold days (32 deg f and up).

T6 is only made in 5w40, it worked well in cold temps well into December. After that, I put the VFR away and rode the BWS125.

I did ride my Dad's Burgman 650 all winter with T6, not one issue at all.

Well I did a oil change with the Bel-Ray 10w40 blend. It was my first oil change in this bike. I can say it shifts much smoother now. But, it might have been just as good shifting had I stayed with full synthetic Spectro. So, time will tell if it starts shifting harder as the oil ages.

The biggest thing I noticed is the engine temp. It was 63 deg F here today. The engine temp was 103 at start-up. I let it idle for 20 min before it hit 180 (I was baking Flame Proof header paint). Then I rode it hard for about a half hour and it never went above 175. I'll test it in stop-n-go traffic in the morning and report back.
