Question 1: When shifting UP through the gears...1-4 work great. When shifting from fourth up to fifth or sixth, the lever gets caught in the "up" position. Not all the time, but some of the time. You can use your foot to nudge it back down and it does so very easily. Also, the lever never hangs in the down position when down shifting. Question 2: When accelerating very hard and near redline (9500+) in 4th, 5th and 6th the bike pops into a "false neutral". It sucks. Keep in mind the usually abused 1st through 4th act just perfectly from idle to redline. Shift forks? drum? bent actuator rod? Gimme your .02 Mahalo, KK
The issue you describe sounded vaguely familiar. Thankfully the search engine on here is pretty good, and eventually I found this thread which could well be the same issue. You may want to PM for further info on what they needed to do to fix the problem. http://vfrworld.com/forums/1st-2nd-...8-gear-selector-not-changng-above-second.html Good luck - let us know how you get on SkiMad
Mahalo skimad, but NONE of that made any sense....not that I'm retarded...but all my shifter assy is under the left side and it does have that crazy multi-geared wheel shifting assy, again...on the left side. BUT... on another note. Apparently, this bike had gotten sick and threw up it's chain into the cases, shearing damn near every bolt or it's threaded lug that held on to the shifter wheely dealy thingy and the clutch slave cylinder. I'm rebuilding what I can with some pretty creative methods that I'm not going to admit to, unless they work. ;-) So, my hopes are that there was so much flex in the shifting wheely dealy (from the missing mounting bolt) that it was causing a problem. (fingers crossed). If not... I REALLY don't want to replace the cases. YUK!
