I'm finally getting some pics up of the Candy Prominence Red color matched rear hugger I bought in January from Pyramid Plastics in the U.K. It's a really nice fiberglass piece, the edges are nicely rounded and smoothed, and the color match is perfect. Total cost was $237.50, including shipping to the U.S. The packing it was sent in was excellent. The hugger can be ordered without the manufacturers logo sticker applied under the clear coat. I also applied a piece of Oracal 270 Stone Guard film to the lower section of the hugger than extends below the swingarm, just to keep road debris from chipping away at the huggers finish. Oracal is not as stretchy as the 3M PPF film kit (thetankslapper.biz) that I applied to the rest of the bike, but it is a heavier material and a better choice for a high wear area.

I had attempted to order the item from Pyramid's US "distributor", a motorcycle accessory store in Connecticut called Twisted Throttle. They are only about 40 miles from me, so I figured I'd order from them, save the international shipping, and drive down to pick it up. When I called TT to ask some questions about the hugger, they were simply clueless. They didn't have any pricing, no idea of how long to deliver, and no technical knowledge of the item at all. They took my info and told me they would get back to me in a couple of days. After a week of nothing, I called back and again they took my info and said they would get back to me. After another week of nothing, I simply called Pyramid, and they couldn't have been better. Here's the questions I wanted answered before I ordered, Pyramid's answers are in bold:

    1) What paint do you use? Is it the OEM two part metallic paint - yes
    2) Is there a clearcoat applied over the color? - yes
    3) How is the underside of the hugger finished? does it have a rough texture? - yes
    4) What color is the underside? Is it raw fiberglass? - no Does it have any finish applied? – yes the fibreglass is painted black
    5) How are the edges finished? Is it a smoothed radius edge - yes
    6) Can the Pyramid logo be removed? Can I order the hugger without the logo? The logo is permanent. To supply a painted item without a logo will add to the delivery time
    7) What mounting hardware is provided? Screws, grommets, spacers, etc? Everything required is included with the product
    8) What is your warranty? For example, how would you handle it if cracks develop around the mounting holes? All items come with a 1 year full warranty
    9) If I order this today, how long will it take to be delivered to the U.S.? 4 – 5 working days is typical with our carrier.

So I just ordered it directly from Pyramid, and I had the hugger (without the logo) delivered to my door 9 days later. TT still hasn't gotten back to me. :>

It's easy to keep clean, just spray with Bike Spirits cleaner & polish, then wipe it down with a soft cloth. Voila! This is the stuff: Spray Cleaner & Polish - Original Bike Spirits I use this after every ride, it keeps it looking great and I don't get any waxy buildup in any nooks or crannies!

That is exactly why TT lost me as a customer. Same exact scenario. After three tries to purchase from them, I gave up and contacted Pyramid who directed me to another US retailer. Can't think of the name right now, but I'll post back when I remember it.

How does this differ from the Honda hugger? Mainly just the color?

    Thanks!

Much better coverage both over and under the swingarm than the Honda hugger. Nicer shape too IMO. Keeps my Penske shock and all the linkage squeaky clean. I bought mine from http://www.streetfightersbydesign.com/

Hugger really adds to the bikes looks. Really needed some red back there anyway.
