Hey all, it's been a while!

I loved my 87 VFR, but theres always a time to move on. For me, it was time to move on when my uncle wanted to get rid of his 2007 ZX14 with under 9000 miles. I sold my beloved VFR to an older gentleman back in December, and due to my time being spent student teaching, I haven't had the time to drive down to see my uncle in Arizona and ride my new bike back. This weekend, I will finally take the trip to Albuquerque (meeting uncle halfway) with my Dad to pick her up! I'm giddy with excitement to finally be back on two wheels.

That being said, I know that I will miss my VFR and all that it had to offer. I know that this ZX14 will be a great bike, but it won't have that V4 character that I've come to love. The guy that I sold it to said that he has worked on countless older bikes, from inline four metrics to v-twin ducatis. He wanted a V4 to see what the fuss was all about. I know he will take care of it, and I hope he enjoys it as much as I did. I logged 12,000 miles on my 87, and learned a bunch about who I am as a rider along the way. You guys also helped shape me into what I am today - an ATGATT anti-squid who waves at every biker (even Harleys) and rides defensively. You all saved me from mutilating my 87 with cheap, squiddy crap that it didn't need by convincing me to leave it in its natural beauty, and I intend to do the same (for the most part) with my 14. It's already equipped with a Corbin saddle, ZG screen, and some soft luggage, so I'm off to a good start with it. This will be a good bike for me, as it fits my frame, is relatively comfortable on long hauls, and pulls like a freight train! Plus, I'm getting a good deal on it, which is important for a dude that's about to start living off of a teacher's salary...

So thank you, VFR world, for helping me grow into a safe, knowledgeable rider. I'll still lust after every VFR I see, and I hope to run into many VFRworld members on the road.

Good luck with your new ride. I hope and expect that you will thoroughly enjoy it. As much as geezers like me hate to admit it, there has been progress made in the bike world in the last 25 years. At the same time, boy! your VFR700 is a beauty!

    As sailors say when parting:

    Fair winds,
    Stoo

You'll only notice a small difference with the zx-14 :) My solution to your situation was to get both :)

Good luck and enjoy! The ninja is a wonderful bike.

Good luck with the new bike, remember it's twice the motor you're coming off of! We'd like some pics of this imaginary bike too when it gets home.

Got the bike back last night after a 500+ mile day ride. 500 miles is a lot for anybody, let alone a guy who hasn't ridden since January. Needless to say, I'm sore, but boy was it worth it!

This bike is amazing. I knew it was clean, but my uncle didn't tell me that it was immaculate! The entire trip back, I never had it above 50-60% throttle, but it still pulled harder than anything I've ever been on. As a bonus, it got 43+ mpg on the entire trip!

Heres my favorite picture of it so far. We found an old service station in NM that made for a great backdrop.
