    Hi Mick

Hi Mick, I'm new to the forum and new to the VFR. I've ridden a TransAlp 650 v-twin for 10 years and finally upgraded to the VFR1200X ("The Thug") a couple of weeks ago.

I love the new ride, but it's taking me a long time to come to terms with the enormous performance. I'm almost 63, so I don't heal as fast as I used to. Consequently I'm taking it gently with this monster, but it's still a fantastic ride.

I live in Port Macquarie NSW and occasionally get over to the Oxley Highway between Long Flat and Walcha, through Ginger's Creek - one of the best bike roads in Australia, if not the world (when it's not flooded).

I've had a long series of dirt bikes since my 20's, and now I prefer the crossover bikes. I like the more upright style (easier on an ageing back).

    cheers

    Gregg

Azi, Melbourne southern suburbs / bayside, 1998 VFR800 yellow.

This is my second 5th gen VFR - my first was an Anniversary model, purchased new in 2000.

The riding in Vic is OK I guess, I had more fun in NSW :) (Putty, Oxley, RNP, Kangaroo Valley, Old Pacific Hwy). So far all I've found around here is Black Spur and Reefton Spur. Yet to try Snowy.

Don't like the Reefon much, too much bark on the road from the gum trees, pub is good though, once up there a bloke walked up to the bar with a big goat on a lead and just ordered a beer. Got a pretty good laugh from us

I have a love affair with the Reefton, just not after heavy winds... Do the loop starting in Warburton, reefton to Marysville, black spur to Healesville, Chum Ck Rd to Toolangi then cross the slide and on to Kinglake, St Andrews... Awesome days riding...

The Spurs are ok, but very overrated.

There over policed, have to much traffic and full of riders that can't.

Some of the best roads in Australia are in Gippsland and really not that far from you (with in an hour to some awesome riding roads.)

If anyone is ever looking for a ride fell free to shoot me a message, always happy to share my roads with other VFR's

Thanks, it's taken a fair bit of work and customization to get there ;)

    Cheers Daniel
