Note to Self - if nothing happens when I push the starter switch, check the kill-switch FIRST, not last.

I'll admit to having my bike picked up by a tow truck and dropped off home... then to find the kill switch turned off.

    Only ever happened once.

I chronically search frantically for my key for extended periods of time just to realize it is in my hand.

Don't feel so bad, Saturday we witnessed a rider start his bike, throw it in gear and the bike immediately shut off. He did this three times until finally everyone watching this, almost simultaneously shouted "Your kick stand's down!" Sometimes we have those denser moments before we even get rolling, just as long as they don't carry over into the ride!

What's worse is that the kill switch used to just shut off the spark, so the engine would still crank, it just wouldn't start. You could kick your brains out and no start, or run the battery down before you belatedly remembered the kill switch.

I initially jumped to the "charging system failed and battery is dead" conclusion.
