    Hi everyone,

I have an '86 vfr700f. I have owned it since 2001. Its pretty much in shambles right now. When I got it from a friend it had sat at a bike repair shop for two yrs because it had been laid down on the right side. It had mainly cosmetic damage to it (in my mind) with most of the body plastics broken. The bike shop started to part out the bike, gas cap assembly, fuel shutoff, and one the carb's. So when I got it I started to work on it, but then I moved, and then I got married, and then we moved again and now we have two yr old twins and the bike has been in storage for about ten yrs. Well, im finally getting around to start working on again.
I guess I should go back to the beginning. I have been in love with this bike since the first day that I read about it cycle magazine when I was in middle school. I have always had dirt bikes...trikes mostly...is how I taught myself to ride since I was about 14 yrs old and had to hide all of my bikes at a friends house because my parents at the time were strictly opposed to me having a motorcycle..."too dangerous". Pretty funny...now my father rides with me @ the young age of 73! Right now I ride a '96 Kawasaki klr650, but im dying to get the vfr on the road, which Im hopeful will be the spring of '14.

Welcome and good luck finding the parts that the shop stripped and sold. that will be a bit of a scavenger hunt in my opinion.

I don't know where you are but there is a guy on the Dallas, TX CL that has a VF700F for sale with all plastics and a blown motor. He wants 1K bur I am sure he would take less.

Those of us that read the thread title know he is in NJ...

Welcome Pork, is your last name Roll? I grew up in NJ... the sticks of Jackson, when it WAS the sticks... and had Pork Roll every weekend for lunch. I missed it so much until I found a place out here in Vegas that sells it. The good one in the burlap wrap. But they only have two or three at a time, so you gotta time it right. Anyway, welcome to VFRWorld. I know nothing about those older VFRs, but I wish you luck getting it back up and running!!

I did poorly in reading comprehension but made up for it on the essay.

I guess your point is Pork's is not interested in a Dallas parts bike.

I think you probably aced grammar too... :)

I was just being obnoxious and responding to your "I don't know where you are statement.". He may very well be interested in a TX parts bike as they are pretty hard to come by... I make no assumptions on that part of it. Good of you to bring it to his attention...

I like my grammar like my spelling "shaken not stirred." I should also never type while sleep deprived (or while running over 100 as the case may be!)

I was thinking that there are probably many more such VF700Fs sitting in weeds and parked behind garages with usable plastics and related parts in every local.

Looks like Senor Taylor had some problemos with the FDA back in the day. Teddy Roosevelt cured that.

Never had the stuff but it can be ordered over the net.

The actual intent was, if one reads and absorbs instead of adsorbing, comes in the form of a question, to wit: Are pork rolls low-cal?

This could add weight to the mystery of "texting at the ton."

Hey Pork. Another NJ guy here. Where you at?

Good luck in getting her back on the road. I'll offer help, but I ain't much of a mechanic.

As for Taylor Ham - There ain't nothing low fat about it. Which is why its delicious.

To me, buying the prepackaged 6-8oz packages aren't the same as the real deal (wrapped in burlap, as Chicky mentioned). I can get it at the deli counter, or the packaged meat section - not THAT packaged meat section.

Twice a year I go fishing with a bunch of guys that come in from TX, AL, MA and sometimes other states. Trip 1 is this week. We all bring something locally relevant, whether its a certain beer, coffee or whatever. I bring the 6# roll of taylor ham, along with 5# of yellow American and 24 rolls. It gets eaten for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, slapped on top of a burger, you name it.

Maybe we can do a little bartering, BB - Some Taylor Ham in exchange for the "worlds best" jo-jos?

Looks like the original was wrapped in corn shucks.. Anyway it sounds good. I hope we don't offend any Muslims or Jews or members of HOG but it is likely we will.

If your fishing buddy from Texas brings Big Red and Moon Pies, stick to the ham..

I think I may have created a monster referencing the Jo-jo's. I was hoping to get picked up by Sesame Street or some other like show...No such luck. I did see some progress just the other day. Walmart is now selling frozen organic Jo-jo's. Next I suppose we will be seeing mini reefers on Goldwings and Harleys for those healthy on the road snacks..

Those jo-jos sound good from your previous posts. Someday I'll try them.

What we need to do is figure out a way to combine that ham with Jo-jo's, sell the idea to the rest of the world and we could have all the bikes we really want to have. Except Harleys of course. It would be fine if the harleydoods bought the combo but the bikes still suck. ;)

Hey Pliskin, thanks. Im in Robbinsville, 10-15 min west of Jackson @ Chicky. I just got a box today...I found a complete set of carbs from a shop in OH and snatched them up. Chicky...I did alot of hunting with my father and brother in Jackson when I was a kid. Everywhere we used to hunt is now a housing development or golf course.

Yeah, Pork. I've been back quite a bit over the years... I can still find my way around okay, but it sure isn't what it used to be. My brother and I played in miles of woods behind our house... And its all houses now. I think I used to drive through Robbinsville on my way out to Princeton to a used record store that used to be there... Along 527...? If you ever get out to Pt. Pleasant, go to Hoffman's Ice Cream and have some Caramel Nut Cluster for me!! :). Where do you ride out there?

Yeah Chicky...Ive been to Hoffman's...A friend I grew up with lives in Pt. I mostly ride backroads and trails. There's alot of farmland around where I live still and a handful of wma's. I also have an 85 cj7 so its alot of fun to scout new trails for the jeep with the klr650, but I dont actually do all that much road riding with the klr. I suppose that's going to change though once I get the vfr on the road.
