Controlling your leak is even more elusive. At your age!

I have a friends of mine who is a Ducati freak. She purchased a Monster with leaking fork seals (among other things) and this is what she said about it:

"For the fork seals, I bought a little plastic thing called Seal Mates. You work it under the seal, run it around, pull it out, pump the forks a few times, no more leakage. I tried it and it really worked! The claim is that most seal leakage is caused not by worn seals but by foreign matter (dirt or bug guts) getting under the seal lip. This cleans the stuff out. I was skeptical but the kit was cheap so I figured what the hell. They were leaking really badly so I was amazed when it actually fixed them. Of course they should be torn down, cleaned out and refilled with the correct amount of fresh fluid. But this will do for now."

I would think you could make something like this out of a piece of plastic. It might be worth a try.

Now see Long, if only you lived in one of the northern areas where you got SNOW, you would have all the time in the world to solve these pesky little maintenance issues. LOL.

If it was an old English motorcycle, you would proud of it "having character".

OOTV is right Scuba, The Fork seals definitely need to be replaced. Leaky forks would be a safety issue. First you get oil on the floor, then you slip on the oil, fall down, and possibly break an arm or shoulder or something. VERY BAD. And besides OOTV needs the IPA.

    :potstir:

And YES Scuba, I would much rather be riding than wrenching. Price I pay for living in the Northern area of the continent. Ah well. LOL

Please post pics of your ride somewhere on the site Scuba so that we poor souls north of the snow line can live our lives vicariously through the pictures in your ride reports. LOL

I've been very busy being retired. Sometimes I don't even put pants on for the day, and work in the garage in my boxers. A bit chilly now, though. I'll get some pics and video posted soon. If not, I'll bring them with me when I visit you next year. Try not to fall off your bike again between now and then.

Thought I would post this here, as I see a lot of the regulars from the past. I know that winter is on its way when a fork seal draws so much attention...

Happy Thanksgiving to all (you too, Randy. Just cook enough food in one day to last for a week. Eat as much as you can at one sitting, nap and repeat ad infinitum). Knife, I had to laugh imagining working in the garage in underwear. I occasionally go out to the garage wearing my slippers and robe for something minor, and end up staying there until I'm too cold or my cigar is finished. I never do it deliberately; it just happens. Far too often, actually.

Anyway, good luck with your leaks, Scubalong.
