Hello, The clutch on my 1990 Vfr 750 engages when the lever is quite far away from the handlebar. I am getting used to it but would prefer it to engage a little sooner as I start to let it out. I have read that there is no adjustment. Is this just the way it is, or would flushing the fluid, re-bleeding, pressing the cylinder in further before bleeding, or anything else help? Jason
You can pop off the cover and inspect what the inside of the master cylinder looks like, there may be a little obstruction in the return orifice. You can steal a piece of wire from a brush and use a pair of pliers and see where that leaves you. You may need a new clutch slave along with a though cleaning of the master along with new DOT 4 fluid. Probably should change that fluid as it gets nasty fast. Dont use anything aggressive inside the master, just a nice paper towel with some q-tips with the heads cut off. Good luck... Just saying, only cause I own a gen 3 bikieee :vtr2:
+1 on rider Your return oralfice located under the little silver tab at the bottom of the master cylinder is clogged and holding pressure in the line and creating the high engagement point, or your 23-yr-old tubing has shredded internally and is creating a blockage that acts like a one-way valve. Easiest to clean the orifice first and be amazed at the difference...
I was single and work two jobs.....So $$$were not an issue. Also the adjustable levers were new thing so the Chinese haven't copy them yet ound:
