i steer clear of them as i have a health condition (type 4 ehlers-danlos syndrome) where i can have a heart attack very easily (i had a stroke at 19), i drink a little too much coffe as it is. it really boils my blood to see kids drinking energy drinks, they only drink it because of the advertisements EVERYWHERE! nitro circus im sure played a massive part in making this commonplace, i see monster stickers on everything! luckily your kid recovered, i cant imagine how bad it must be to have a kid so ill.

Cheers brother, glad hes on the mend. When my boy at 10 had a grand maul seizure, I thought he died in my arms. He's doing fine now at 19 with meds. Is there any long term damage with your boy ? Have a great Holiday and cherish every minute with the family. ;)

Though I can't begin to imagine what you and your family have gone through, I'm exceedingly glad to hear that your son has pulled through.

All of us can take a lesson away from this and that is to Cherish the time you have with your loved ones as you never know when it might be your last. We can live for life, but we can all love for eternity.

All the the best to you diVeFR and to your family.

Those first three photos are normal everyday photos to most of us. Typical family shots of our kids. But for sure, I am sure, very special photos for you my friend. Good to see.

That last one...I just can't fathom.

Sorry your son went through this, and glad he is making a full recovery.
Also, thanks for this thread, I just had my son read it. He has been bugging my wife to buy him a case every time they are at Costco. A real eye opener for him.

The stuff is bad for you no doubt. Im not a soapbox type and I wont start preaching the dangers of this stuff. What you want to do to your body is what you want to do. If I was to be asked how to "control" this problem Id say treat it like alcohol and you have to be at a (enter age here) to purchase this stuff. If you are a parent and giving this stuff to your kids Ill ask to please stop...but its your lifestyle and I wont stop you if you do. I do see a problem in the near future with this stuff. Just like cigeretts were to NASCAR, energy drinks will be the same for the moto/adventure sports. Itll be a shame if and when it does.

No long term damage... he has/had short term memory loss. Like the camping trip we took he asked if we had been there at the same spot. When I told him yes he started to remember. Other than that...typical rock head young adult.... lol

    Thank you zoom

It was scary Randy. Thanks for thinking of him.

    Thanks for the info.

    let your son see this....

Everything needs to be taken in moderation. That's a great point you brought up. I used to really try to make it one of my life mottos, Everything in moderation and finding the right balance for everything.

Luckily, you get another chance to teach your son this about life. Don't take anything for granted. It's a good chance for you to teach him about eating healthy for the rest of his life too :p
I've recently tried to make a big push to change over to healthy eating and lifestyle. Not going tool well, its actually way harder than it looks to get back into shape. Maybe if it was 10 years ago it'd work..

Glad everything turned out alright man!

By the way I fucking hate how every thread that's started, about someone who has lost, or nearly lost someone, has to turn into a debate about "HOW" they died(or came close to) and "No, the REAL PROBLEM CAUSING THIS IS"... I'm sure its enjoying as hell to the OP when that becomes the bulk of the thread. Don't get your jimmies rustled.. Save the jimmy Rustlin' for another thread. Its like a dagger through my fucking heart, (currently caffeine filled, I might add) guys..

I don't like any of those energy drinks. They taste awful. My brother used to drink those horrible things along with coffee. I think his doctor told him to layoff finally and he seems to be off them.

I prefer a little coffee or tea for a wake-me-up. We constantly talk to our daughter about choices and taking care of herself. We also don't give her caffeinated drinks. If your kid needs caffeinated drinks, something is not right.

Really glad your boy is doing better.

Glad to hear your boy is ok. My son used to guzzle those things too. No matter how I objected he managed to get his hands on them, no matter how I showed him evidence of the health issues associated with overuse he still would ignore me. Now he's almost 21 and doesn't touch them.

Again, glad to hear your boy is doing well!!
