Moved my bike into the basement and after 2 years finally got it back out so I can ride again but when doing a good cleaning of fuel system found that I needed to rebuild carbs as well. Ordered a new/used one off ebay already rebuilt and found the same issue I was having with mine which is fuel streaming out of my carbs. Finally identified the source and I think it can be fixed with a new o-ring but wanted to see if anyone else had some additional information as it seems the fuel delivery pipe is just held in place by the sheer force of the carbs themselves through tension. Anybody have some additional information as this I think is the last thing I need to resolve before I can get back on the road again.

Uploaded a couple of attachments showing what I am having issues with:

    1. shows the actual delivery pipe or whatever it is called (yes one o-ring is missing as it was cut off for sizing of replacements)
    2. one pipe removed but a second remaining to show location
    3. side view of carb showing location again

The factory parts are not that expensive and the need to mess with it again because of incorrect parts is enough to justify the cost a dozen times over. Here is a link....looks like aboot $80 bucks for tubes and seals for every stuff.

The plastic piece of shit tubes are brittle and fragile with age. They are prone to cracking and can be damaged in reassembly.

So I believe Toe is recommending you replace them as well.

Possibly the same O-rings as fitted on VF500s, and there are many posts about them, including reference numbers for autoparts store or local bearing distributors. Best to find best metric size if available. I'm sure Toe's right about replacing tubes while you can, but money don't grows on every orange trees like in California.:pirate:
Rings sourced locally will set yo back about $2, or about $1.50 less than a beer in a bar. :party2:

Fuel tubes seem to grey and discolor before they get old and may crack.

Too bad they are off the plate, now you have to re-rack them, and synchronizing is a must.

I heard the roads are paved with gold in Buffalo. ice-hunchin

Toe Cutter..... Definitely will pick up the new parts as they are a no brainer at that price, thanks.

The pictures I took are of my original carbs that are now on the bench as the replacement bought from ebay are on the bike but regardless, we have to take the carbs apart in order to replace the o-rings and fuel tubes.

KennyBobby..... no, we did not go through all the internals or at least not yet.

Unridden bikes usually have better-looking fuel tubes cuz liquid fuel damages plastic with long exposure, while seldom ridden means less exposure since fuel dries up, less likely to whiten then crack from brittleness ?? Aren't most tube crackages caused when carbs are removed if the airbox base was taken off ?? Darker tubes r closer to new and most likely OK to reuse. New ones cost more than several of 6-packs, by darn, remember ? :party2: :drinker:

it pays not to be an accountant when doing this work. There was a saying that my father told me regarding lawsuits. Just have a big eagle fly over and shit money on it, same can go for restoring/refurbishing these kind of bikes.

Nuff-Sed, would have gotten that as a license plate if some sodamite didnt already have it.
