Yeah, kinda old news. Allow me to summarize what everyone said:

    - We in North America don't get it.
    - It's not really a new bike since the frame and engine are the same as the 6th gen
    - Looks awesome/boring. Just depends on who you talk to
    - Back to the ugly side mount can, no one likes it by they can understand it
    - Forks are not inverted and people don't know why
    - Smaller gas tank than previously
    - nice additions with the adjustable seat and heated grips.

It really looks retro to me like it would have fit nicely between the 5th and 6th gen as an evolution of the breed. The instruments look pretty modern though, like recent Acura automobiles.

It does seem like they missed an opportunity to take advantage of so many innovations as well as a chance to drop the VTEC and go back to gear driven cams.

Oh well, I guess I can wait a few more years.

Gear driven cams will never come back to the street VFR. Noise regulations and cost killed that.

Way to kill the dream eh!

VTEC belongs in Honda Civics. Nothing else really benefits from the "dual personality" it brings to the table as a powerplant. JMHO
Unfortunately every vehicle I own has it

It also has a lighter swing arm, Traction control, heated grips & new braking system. I think its enough to get it over the line as a new model. Newer models always get a bit dig by owners of the previous models. I think Honda has done a good job of upgrading the things onto an already good platform & bring it up to date for more appeal against straight out new machines. Honestly Honda could have canned the 800 altogether, considering their newer models (like the CBR range that are coming out soon). But they didn't & good on them for sticking with a bike that does not sell in droves anyway.

Noise regulations? If your bike is that loud, somethings wrong with the top end.

Pooh will not be sold in North America. You "might" be able to get one if you special order it. 2 things wrong with the bike as I see it......... VTEC crap and the exhaust is on the wrong side of the swing arm.

    Hey Viffers,

Yeah the old news about the new VFR, ... My first post... Well Canadian as I am, I won't apologize for this as it's kinda started me thinking about the VFR I'll build,
The new '14 VFR has some of what i've already got. Minor stuff, Heated grips, LED head lights bla,

Question for you all - My 2001 VFR 800Fi came stock with ... ?? 91Hp, Is that about right?

Comment - After a Dyno test in 2012, it produced 108hp. from about 9500RPM

My explanation for this, ... welcome, Up, in power:
D&D exhaust, pipes probably 16" long and in hand, held up, I can see straight through it. Is it loud? Yes. Cop's like it? No.
NGK spark plugs, CR9EH-9 gapped to about 30 000
    K&N Filter
Motul Technosynthe oil. Stock from Honda oil filter.
Michelin PP Raod3. about 36 front 38-40psi rear.

    And that's it. ...
The Dyno guy mentioned at about 2500RPM it over fuels, (mapping) the result is a noticeable dip in the power band, but beyond that, it kept making power all the way up.
He then mentioned a "fix" to it, could be a power commander. He gestured over towards his PC display, there was the one my bike needed.... Only $400. plus install etc.
But then he followed up with the comment, "I don't know how much time you spend at 2500RPM, my opinion, Your a street rider, Not track?" I nodded Yes, "$400. it's not worth it. Your bike makes a lot more then I'd expected, Since 2500RPM is the only place your bike bogs down, Just ride around it".

    Some pretty good, honest advice.
I'm getting about 300klm's per tank average 18 to 19 liters (Around town)
and 400-420klms (Highway), before I chicken out, usually, only to pump 20liters of gas back in.

    Question - is that good?

    The build for this winter:

Inverted forks - from RC51sp2 or the 2013 CB1000 which also has the radial brakes ???
    Ohlins Rear shock
Front signals moved to in mirrors - stock signals changed to super bright LED's
    Paint.

Not much, I know, but I'm very happy with my VFR. it's closing in on 80 000k
    I put it's 2nd Stator in it at about 50 000k
    No smoke, no leaking
    Starts every time
    Great gas mileage
Powerful enough for me and certainly enough to get tickets
    Reliable
Comfortable and generally does everything I want.

After the mods what more is there?

One upside to this whole business, is that for all us cheap/poor bastards (and the future cheap/poor bastards), you should now still be able to buy a VFR in 2030. Assuming they are as reliable as a bike calling itself a Honda VFR should be.

Well I have to say it's a big FAIL for honda

It's missing about 140-160hp, active or semi-active suspension, rider foot peg clearance, narrower engine cases, Polyamide-imide/carbon fibre engine block, exhaust energy reovery units, carbon fibre reinforced conrods, etc.

Seriously if a back yard hack can do it to a 98 model. Why can't they put some decent equipment on the bike for the $ they want.

    WOW, rocketscientist

    Active or semi-active suspension
    Narrower engine cases
    Polyamide-imide/carbon fibre engine block
    Exhaust energy recovery units
Carbon fibre reinforced conrods, etc.... I don't know this, but I'd have to guess, the list of items you wish for are likely not cost affective.

There are bikes that have 140-160hp, They're out there... if hp is what you need /want, couldn't you go get one?

    Just a thought.

Yeah, the things you seek cost a lot of money.

Personally, I think this '14 6th gen is awesome and I am seriously considering picking one up 4 or 5 years down the road so that I can have the safety of real traction control on an otherwise nearly perfect motorcycle. Not sure how I will accomplish that if they don't go to Canada, but hey...
