Icon Alliance. I usually go for the fancy lids, shoei mostly. But I kinda broke right now, and saw these on clearance at sportbike track gear, $92! Shipped! Couldn't pass it up. I went with a neutral color this time, because I never know what bike I'll be riding. I put in about 120 miles with it and I like it. Nice and comfy, maybe a little loud but not too bad at all. It has all kinds of vents but I didn't play with them, it was cold out. Seems like a good helmet to me.

New lids are always good! STG has had some awesome deals this year. I was tempted to buy some stuff just because it was cheap! Alas I let my better judgement get the better of me.

I don't know if it works the same in the States but in much of Europe riders are encouraged to donate "retired" helmets to the rescue services, rather than just throw them in the bin. That way fire and ambulance/hospital staff can use them to practice safely removing real helmets (including cutting them open) and also become more familiar with how to release the various fastening systems.

+1 on this time of year can be a great time to buy a new helmet. Lots of manufacturers refresh their range over winter, and dealers want to clear space for new stock. Winter is a good time to replace all those items of kit you spent all last summer vowing to replace when you get time...

I got all my old brain buckets on a shelf, they are kind of art-like with all the colours and graphics. I only got rid of one helmet in my riding career, and that was when I moved! If I would have still had it, I would have cut it in half and installed a clock and hung it on the wall.

I do donated my old socks though to Gud-Will

I'm weird about my old helmets. Almost superstitious. Nobody will wear one of my old helmets. They a all sit in the helmet boxes on the shelf. Retired. Never to be worn again. I have my reasons.

    Not that anyone knows of...

Had a good friend borrow a helmet if mine many years ago. He made it about an hour before e crashed and lost his life. I've been really superstitious about my helmets ever since.

Ricko. I am interested in hearing from you after you have worn it in the cold and damp a few times, what you think of that advertised fog free visor. But then you live in California so I doubt you get the chance to really check that out. Anyone else here who lives in the colder climates with a similar helmet advertising fog free, please pipe in.

Thank god your post wasn't referring to a regular hat.. or snap-back. Now that we got that out of the way, I want to know if it is really fog proof. Great color choice too. That's the color I want to paint my bobber.

Having some experience in donating pesos to charities. Check out the salary of the CEO of GoodWill. Some rockers use rolled up sox in their performance duds. Of course nobody except the rare harleydood here needs to do that..

Randy, I have a new Shoei RF 1200, it has a second inner shield to reduce fogging. It gets cold here in the East Bay and it works.

Only ride in it so far was pretty cold. I live in the mountains of California. Highest temp I saw in that 120 miles was 55, lowest was 40. Didn't have any fog issues. I try not to ride in the rain, because rain has a way of turning to snow around here. My Shoei TZR would fog up when it was 60 outside, so I'd say maybe it works...

And yes, that was funny. I thought nobody knew about that weekend in vegas...

New RF-1200 and GT-Air come with pin-lock lenses, so far the best anti-fog I've run across. The problem with the GT-Air is the sun visor will still fog up!

I am sorry for ricko2's mate. I also had a mate killed on a bike when I first started riding which, taught me not to drink and ride. He may well have saved my life.

I have a shoei neotech with pinlock inner anti fog visor and it works very well indeed.

Shoei is suppose to be coming out with a photosensitive pinlock inner visor that darkens in sunlight.

That would indeed be great cause as it is, I need to carry both shields when I am on the road. Seems tinted visors at night is illegal in some jurisdictions.

The X12 did not come with the pin lock system, at least when I bought mine, but you could get a pin lock visor for them and I did. I agree, they work great. I was just wondering about this particular helmet. The photo "looks" like the visor is a single panel visor. That was why I asked.

Sorry to hear about your buddy Ricko,I can understand why you retire your helmets when you're done with them.

I'm not really that superstitious about my old helmets. I usually just sell them or give them away when I'm done with them.

That is all except for my old Shoei RF900C Corsa. This one saved my life when I crashed and totalled my all Candy Aleution Blue '84 VF700F Interceptor.

It's the only one I've ever saved. I keep it tucked away in it's original Shoei helmet bag along with the gloves that I was wearing that night as a reminder.

BTW - Nice new lid and you can't beat the price either. Got an Icon Domain2 myself and I like it a lot,it's my main cold weather riding helmet.
