90% of the time I ride Lone Ranger. Buddies always have other things more important than riding to do. Some of them dont ride anymore. Going aline has its advantages and dis-advantages. Stop where and when you want, ride at your own pace. No time restraints.

I ride alone mostly, but I will ride in groups with anyone. If they are squids, I usually just leave them because they can't keep pace anyway.

Solo on the Honda and the Harley, I always wave at sport bikes whilst on my Harley get some looks...like said before, hardly get any waves from Harley riders on the Honda. Hell sometimes don't get waves on the Harley from another Harley. I must not look the part, which is FINE by me :triumphant:

    Merry Christmas to everyone BTW!

Solo. I've ridden in groups and would do so again. I like riding solo and taking my time to do the things I want such as stopping at a place I like for as long as I want, take pictures and soak in the views without the need to rush. Have ridden 3k miles solo and I like it that way.

I ride with an awesome and fairly organized group of vintage bike enthusiasts. Our Facebook group has about 450 members throughout the Northwest, and 30-50 members in the Portland area that actively attend events, go for rides and overnighters, etc. We have a few annual overnight trips, ALMOST monthly get togethers (in the summer it's closer to weekly) and rides are posted all the time. Last week a few of us met at PDX Playdate with our kids and had lunch while the little ones romped around. Members are all ages, male and female.

I have a wife and two kids, so a lot of my rides are short notice and half day or less, so I do a fair amount of solo riding as well. I don't mind it one bit.

The thing about riding with a group, especially a tight knit group, is that they become an extension of your family. All my brothers, sister, my parents, etc. all live out of state, but some of the people in the group have seriously become like family. The acts of generosity, friendship and kinship I've seen within that group honestly changed my life for the better and reaffirmed my belief that motorcyclists, in general, are the best kind of people.

I used to have the pleasure of that kind of group. I was the young one among grizzled veterans. They are all gone now but you are so right, it's just like family. Motorcyclists, in general, are the best kind of people in the world.

Used to ride with a group of various bikes and experience. Pretty much alone now. It's easier to plan that way.

Do most my riding alone. Used to be either commuting to and from work, or racking up the miles going to Reggies place. But I do manage to get aout a couple times a year for a day or three ride with a group of four of us.

Hadn't ridden in a couple of weeks while I was servicing my bike, so when I heard about the group ride this morning, I had to participate. Couple other VFR's out there.

I typically ride solo but have done just a few group rides that turned out to be a lot of fun. Back when I had my ZX-6R, I rode from San Diego to Malibu and did the mountains with a stop at the Rock Store. That was cool. Over a 100 bikes of all types parked along the road. Took the Pacific Coast Highway back home. My wrist and ass hurt for three days. I've done a few local group rides with a Sport Bike meetup group and also had good experiences. The group is pretty large and having only gone on a few rides, I haven't seen any of the same people. I've heard stories while waiting to get under way like, "Last time we had three riders go down." I didn't like that at all. This isn't combat. We shouldn't be having riders "going down." I know accidents happen but it just reinforces my hesitation to do too many group rides. Young guys on fast bikes feeling like they need to keep up or prove something = recipe for disaster. Ideally, I'd have a group of 5 or 6 guys/gals who ride for the love of riding, are fun but safe, and know what they're doing. Until then, I'll keep doing mostly solo rides and occasional group rides. I like meeting other riders. Have yet to run into another VFR rider in the sport bike rides!

I love to ride with other sport bike guys, and have done so with mixed success. Mostly the risks are too high. I have nothing to prove and do not road race on the street. I really need to know the people I ride with in order to feel comfortable. I have noticed that longer trips usually take some of the rabid enthusiasm out of most riders. It's the short, afternoon rides, that get everyone in trouble. I ride the occasional group ride but s a mix of Goldwings, cruisers and sportier rides.

Having ridden so many years solo, riding with a group is kind of stressful. I'm so used to be able to move around the lane at a whim, that having to be aware of someone else who may, or may not, be close is a bit wearing. I also am used to watching the road as far ahead as possible and a group tends to block the kind of view I'm wanting. When I ride by myself I'm free to speed, loiter, or do the speed limit, but with a group I'm pretty much locked into their speed. AFAIC the jury is still out on the "fun factor".

Ride solo. In the late 80's rode all the time with a group, learned a lot, enjoyed the camaraderie. I am still working on building up confidence and skill after the absence for so many years, I also have realized that I am not as young as I used to be. Yesterday went for one of my normal rides through the Redwood Reserve and ended up a Peet's in Castro valley, a bunch of bikes and riders there. Shot the shit, and when we left to go home, I followed the group until we got out of civilization, then they I lost them on the second turn! Back to riding solo, quick but comfortable pace.
