Ok so I have started putting a list together of things I want to replace or add onto my 5th gen. I looked at a few different exhaust systems. I seem to like the Staintune tones better. Has anyone had any positive/negative experiences with this pipe? And where is a good place to get ahold of one? Used is ok as well since I am on a budget.

The Staintune I have came on the bike when I bought it.

At first I thought it was too loud and bought a baffle direct from Staintune. But now, I've removed the baffle and simply love the note the V4 delivers with it. Just intoxicating !!

I've got the Staintune low pipe now, had the high pipe before.
Run both of them without baffle, the low one is longer and slightly quieter.
But they both sound great. It depends if you want to use soft bags for which one you pick.
The high one looks better on the bike as it shows the rear wheel better.
But the low one is better for touring luggage options.
Either one you won't be disappointed. They are one of the better options available.

Based only on comments I've read on this site, I think the Staintune is kind of hard to come by here in the US. And they are pricey.

I like their sound, but was never drooling over it. I've heard plenty of others on the 5th Gen that I thought sounded really good too. I like my 2BR personally.

Good luck in your quest. One thing is for sure (IMO) - they all sound better than stock!

I'm currently running a staintune highrise pipe on my 5th gen and love it. I've had staintunes on all 4 vfr's I've owned since they sound great and are of top quality. They are a little noisey without the bung in it if riding long distances so I just stick the bung in and problem fixed. They never need repacking. They aren't the cheapest pipe by far but you get what you pay for. The staintune on my 2001 vfr has been on it since new so is 12 years old and still looks like new.

I went a little unique. I have a Micron high rise mid-pipe and put on a Supertrapp muffler. I love the old school look and the sound is great. It's a little deeper tone than the CF Micron was.

I am not much for loud bikes, but I sure like that symphony that comes out of the back of a bike running those. I have followed several peeps with different gens sporting those and I don't think they are really that loud at all.

Wished I had bought them for my bike years ago, but I am not about to spend that kind of money on exhaust for mine at this point. If there comes a need to do so, then that is what I will go to,

Sounds awesome with no muffler, pulled my midpipe today so I can clean it up and ceramic coat it. If staintune made a system for the older ones I'd buy it in a heart beat.

I like the Staintune & think it sounds good. I prefer the sound of a carbon fibre pipe though. I have a Remus carbon pipe on my '98 & it is one of the best sounding cans I have ever heard. I find there is a certain depth in sound that only carbon pipes can bring.
