Hi everyone, am i or am i not the only one to be excited by the prospect of test riding the "new" vfr800f? even though it looks like my 5th gen:single_eye:

it makes me happy to see that honda realised their issues and have almost gone back to the old faithful! ( I'm not sure if the 800f is vtec)

no matter what everyone says............WE DONT ALL WANT THE BLOODY ADVENTURE BIKES.

    I agree, unfortunatley, it's a vtec.
They were listening to customers, except for the obvious screams to go back to gear driven cams. That my friend, is a real VFR.
But I'm still excited about a new one, after the very tired 6th gen.
Sometimes even the same amount of horsepower, but available lower down and for longer can totally transform an engine.
It doesn't seem like a new model, just an update, but still; better then no new VFR.

with the 22lb loss it weight slightly more power, better suspension and brakes it should be a great ride.
its only the blooming vtec thats letting it down (on paper)

Hold on to previous generations of VFR's if you want gear driven cams. Most likely a thing of the past (unfortunately).

I agree with you Andrew_rc46 not everyone wants an adventure bike.

I'm 5'6" with a 29" inseam-no adventure bike for me! I'm thrilled at the "re-introduction " of the VFR800, anybody seen a pic of it with the factory bags?

:smile:I agree theres nothing like the gear driven cams, but why the hate on the V-TEC. I appreciate the low end torque and low rpm performance. I chose my VFR over buying a ZX-10, GSXR750, for the reason of having useable power in everyday riding situations yet having top end performance. Fuel economy isnt bad ether. I've owned previous models of Interceptors and have loved them all. Maybe I'm on my own little island.

I have not but add a link and we all will.

My brother in law has a gs adventure with all of the toys on, he also has a 5gen anniversary model that he uses most of the time, don't get me wrong it's a fantastic bit of kit (£15000) but he like me is v4 happy.

I test rode the vfr800 vtec in 2006 maybe a year in to owning my 1st 5 gen, thinking it would be something better......how wrong was I, it wasn't anything that I wanted or expected, I'd had a wierd way of surging into the corner when mid throttle ie vtec kicked in, the brakes were not better or worse, it didn't even handle like the old girl, maybe I was expecting too much from the newbie, but that bloody vtec was just noise and vibration that ruined it all.

Hmmm ,I've only had my 07 on the track a couple times, but when I did I never had a problem with the V-TEC. I hardly noticed it other than the sound. But I was more than likely above he 6400 rpms most of the time while on the track. If I compare it to our track bike(CBR600) then I might complain about brakes, weight, ect.. I bought it for the purpose of having a COMFORTABLE all around sport bike that I added bags to so I could travel without giving up the handling and performance. I'm just not ready for a GoldWing quite yet lol.
