New to the 5th gen, but I had a 4th gen. Loved it,put 45k on it. Decided it was time for somthing different.
apparently some one on this forum, from the Land of Oz, has my bikes original metric gauge cluster. So that's what led me visit. I will post up some pics of it once I get the filth off of it. Needs brakes, fluids, chain, sprockets, tires.... that is just from the visual inspection. Fortunately, I live in southeast Michigan, and its frigid to say the least. So the plan is to dismantle all pivot points, inspect, grease,or replace,as needed. A massive bonus in the purchase was the Honda shop manual.
Any recommendations on tires? I had Pirelli Angels on my 4th. Its always nice to read what others use and see what works, and what doesnt for them.
    Cheers

Welcome to The World Sid! Tires, like Oil can lead to a plethora of opinions and claims. Personally I like Michelin tires and seems so do a lot of other VFR owners, the Pilot Road 2/3 (The PR4 were released earlier this month) are very popular amongst the sport-touring crowd. Great mileage and good grip when you need it. I have Pilot Power 3s on my "play bikes" ('01 5 Gen/'95 900SS Duc) and a PP3/PR2 combo on my commuter/tourer. So far no complaints from any ride. I can tell you that if you're more into sport riding, look at getting a suspension upgrade, you'll be glad you did.

    Cheers!

We heard you the second time!
    Hi Sid.
I'm a big fan of pilot road 2's. I hate dunflops as I've bad luck with them. Installed new Pilot road 2's last July and have ridden through storms with 1/2-1" of rain on the road, windy conditions and I'm so pleased, that more than likely I'll stick with them from now on.

Another vote for the Michelin. I have had bot the the 2s and 3s. Two sets of 2s, then to 3s then back to 2s just because they were cheaper and as far as I was concerned were as good as the 3s in the rain.

Im using perelli angel st's and love them. More pricey but havent had a tire inspire confidence like these. I ride up to when the ice prevents it :) I have to or I wont get any riding in :p

As for oil. . . . . (Queue the religion war) im using rotella for diesels and love it. Still on original clutch pack and it hasnt given me any cause for concern yet.

    Now two are done: filters?

Using PR3's all this winter. Irish winters are very yet. Last two days have had no rain, First rainless period since early December. Only missed a few days due to ice or frost. Gotta love them Tyre.
