The gas money alone would be ridiculous..... there are sections of I-95 in SC where I always " floor it".

Yellow?, Nevermind, I don't ride Yellow Bikes.

    Ride RED!

    Grey,

I wonder if you have any additional information or could ask your friends other recommendations?

There is a DAS that I see on-line that does seem to have some unfavorable reviews. But then I see a DAT (Domestic Auto Transport) that actually seems to get some positive reviews. These companies change their names to "hide" at times.

I did check with Reliable, and as much as I like them, the problem is they have up to a 4 week waiting period. Unfortunately, I can't leave the car in FL that long.

Finding a trustworthy shipping company is way more involved than buying a car. It appears that almost everyone on-line is a broker, so when you contact them, I end up with 25 phone calls in an hour. I don't think Reliable operates that way; seems you contact them, they have their own trucks and drivers.

    Hey VFRKat

If you like the Trans Am WS6, then I'm sure you're gonna LOVE this one. There is an impressive list of mods done to the vehicle and at $30 grand it might seem expensive for a 99 T/A but it does have custom twin turbos and 1400 HP. Now that could get you in trouble. Have a look at the link below.

This one is local to me. If you are interested I would be happy to go look at it for you. All the mods appear to have been completed recently so I doubt it has been beaten on profusely. LOL

lol, wow is that over the top for power! Potential of 1700hp! How "streetable" can that possibly be? The price seems fair considering the work that must have gone into the engine alone.

    Hey Kat

Here is the listing that the owner of the 99 Trans Am had posted in a different area of our local classified website. This one offers a LOT more info on the modifications done to the car. In the ad the owner says the car is very easy to drive and took a 1000 km trip to Saskatchewan and got 20 mpg.

    http://classifieds.castanet.net/details/1999_twin_turbo_427_trans_am_ram_air/1342315/

The he most powerful car I have had a chance to drive was a local car that was in need of some dent repair. It was a 2005 Mustang that had a custom twin turbo setup and was dynoed at 1055 HP and 1160 ft/lbs at the wheels. Car was very well mannered considering the power when driving around town. The customer told me it had a LOT of power when I picked it up originally (honestly I was a little surprised he let me drive it, but I had fixed a few cars for him previously) but I had no idea how much and never really tried to test it since the car was not mine. When the customer came to pick it up we talked for a bit and then after he had asked me a number of questions about my VFR (he loved the look of the bike and thought it was a Ducati at first, LOL) he offered to take me for a rip in the Mustang. The sheer ferocity with which the car accelerated was unreal, and it braked and cornered just as well.

I still ill see the car every once in a while during the summer and the neat thing is that if you didn't know much about cars you would likely not know anything on the car had been modified. That is unless he was beside you and you could see the seriously wide rear tires and hear the blow off valve whoosh when he slowed down.

I am fairly certain it would go through a set of tires a week with that much horsepower, but it would be a fun car to own. Just so you could have bragging rights that your car could beat an F-16 down the runway at your Air Force base. :)

    Update.

So my car arrived yesterday from FL. Now, to clarify a couple of things, the car is actually a 1987 Buick Regal T-Type Turbo. In essence, its the same motor (LC2 Turbo package), Trans, and G80 limited slip rear. The difference is that it aluminum bumper braces & wheels. Additionally, this car is maroon; not black. I bought it from the original owner, and have all paperwork and matching numbers.

Here's a link to Hemmings if you'd like to read about the 1987's.

Since the car is maroon, and therefore not a GN, it lacks the GN badging. Needs a good detail, and there will be plenty of other mods that I'll do over time.

A few pics. I did my best to wash it in our 28* temps yesterday.

And the good news is, the wife actually likes it!

Very nice, sharp looking ride. Is that a NOS system I see?

Yes, it is a NOS system, but I'm taking it out.

Ultimately, my goal is two fold with this car. First, I'd really like to make it a 10 second car, but without the added pressure/combustion of the NOS. While I make those changes, I have full intentions of keeping all stock parts. When (if?) I get tired of the car, my intention would be to turn it all back into stock, except for certain things that just "make sense" to keep the car mechanically sound (such as fuel pump & regulator). Everything else that I do to the car (from the air filter, MAF sensor & pipe, down pipes, Injectors, etc.) would be able to be switched back to stock. There's no doubt that stock cars fetch a better price.

Time will tell. For now, see my other related thread:
