    Hello,

    New to the forum.

Picked up as the title states a 85 VF500F for just under $300

Bike came with new calipers front and rear, along with the lines. Has brand new tires on it and a new Gas tank never used before. The person I bought it from was the Original owner and took fairly good care of the bike.

    PIC's to fallow...

So far only issue is Odviously the Carbs need a slight cleaning. The bike was stored well, as the carbs were drained ect.

He started a restore and was doing some wiring - "Night mare thank god for repair manual " and I got the lights and blinkers to work.

Now im onto finding the Vacum lines and fuel line. I noted this bike didn't have a fuel pump on it, tough my 84 had one.... maybe this is a 86 insted, ether way for 300 bucks and 13,200 on the clock what can yea expect?

anyways I'll keep u all posted as the work progresses

you bought a vf500 without hearing it run ???? Oh, my, but you'll need some luck !:congratulatory:

somewhat unlikely carbs need cleaning if they were stored dry.

I herd it atempt to turn over.... It was fuel starved, after taking apart the Carbs and seeing the amount of sediment left behind in the tubs it don't suprise me it failed to idle.... Taking pics will upload later on tomorrow :) maybe even a vid of it running if I feel spunky

Looks like a fixer upper but with a little work she will make you a good bike. If you need some help with your carbs google Billy Carr he doe's excellent work for a decent price.

Thanks. Ya these carbs came out decently well.... I also have a parts vf500 engine sitting in my shop I mite take the carbs off that one as i was looking at these and relized that that trottle plate control arms on carbs 1-2 don't have the c plates to go in between so..... now I need to steal em off my other parts engine or find replacements

The other thing I see is your cross over tubes are blocked off with blue caps. They need to be both facing inward between the carbs and a 5/16 hose attaching them together. Your back one is in the right place but the front needs to be flipped to point to the back

It's always nice to have a parts engine on standby no matter what bike you own. 13k miles...she's just a baby. I put that on my new R in the first 6 months. Winter is holding on strong here in New England so you have plenty of time. Barring any calamities, you should have a fun bike when it's done. Keep the pics coming. I for one, love watching projects unfold.

Oh dude I feel your pain carb's are such a bitch! Well it's a love hate relationship I have with them love em for the crisp throttle response and just shim the needle to take away or give fuel. But on the other hand when there bad there bad some many tiny little piece's etc... But it sounds if you have it under control.
