Gear position indicator issues? Common?

We have a 2010 VFR at the store right now that will indicat that the bike is in third gear for ALL of the first three gears. After that it will show 4th, 5th and 6th. Anyone experience this?

 

If I lived closer to Denver I would say it is irreparably broken and should be sold to me for dirt cheap... Since you are too far away from me for that.... Its the bazaaz z-bomb that gets rid of the Honda 1st/2nd gear power restrictions. There should be a sticky about it you can check out.

 

I was not clear with the description, it seems.

Put the bike in first - it indicated 3rd gear
2nd = 3rd gear indicated
3rd = 3rd indicated
4th = 4th indicated
5 = 5
6=6

That's what the issue is. I ride a 6th gen so it felt plenty fast to me.

On a side note, not impressed, at all. The one I rode had a Comp Werks GP style pipe on it and it sounded nothing like a VFR. It really sounds more like a BMW boxer than a V4. I couldn't tell anything about handling since the tires are shot and possibly low as well. It's an OK bike, it isn't a VFR.

 

Search that bazaaz z bomb on the forum. From what I understand its a little clip in harness that tricks the ECU into thinking its in 3rd gear in 1st and 2nd, which come neutered from the factory. Tons of material on it in the forums!

Using the formula for deriving permutations you have a 720:1 chance that the indicator is FUBAR.

 

Had to google what "fubar" meant, I feel so oot-of-touch. Still know what Dilligaf means though, so there is hope. Who needs a gear indicator, Just asking? More stuff to burn oot? nuff-sed.

 

The real solution to this problem is to get one of those 1200s with the auto tranny.

Ten to one HD has one of those torn down on a bench in Milwaukee and are looking toward their next iterations of bikes and harleydoods. Probably with seasonal colors of those assless-crotchless chaps for 10% off if ya buy the set.

Somewhere there is some sort of award for new acronyms. I have one based on GIGO. This one is GICO (Garbage in Compost oot) If there is a monetary prize then I can get that MV Agusta I want..

 

My favorite acronym is TLA. It's the "mother" of all that came to be in her realm. Three Letter Acronym. That's what I'm talking about!!
