Blue tooth headset

Hi all , I could with some of your worldly experience .
I'm looking to buy a blue tooth headset with a budget of £150 , have you any ideas what's any good for that budget ? Cheers :smile-new:

I was having similar thought about a Bluetooth headsets BUT I need a pair for me and my pillion (aka the missus) ;-)
Any suggestions on a good twin set at a reasonable price? Cheers

I would get Sena twin pak if I were you.

 

Sena and Cardo and possibly a few others have "paired" sets, but usually in the $300+ range, or just under (http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/cardo-scala-rider-q1-teamset). The link Scuba gave you looks like a good price, but not sure of the quality. Sena and Cardo are known quality units but you will pay for it. The Newer Sena SMH10 units have a "universal" connection feature, meaning you can connect to just about any other bluetooth headset system. I'm sure there are limitations but you'd have to check out the Sena website. Of course you can always go low tech, a couple of tin cans and some string seemed to work pretty well when I was a kid. :wink:

 

The Sena seems to be a few bucks cheaper.

I tried a scala rider last year and it worked really well. I need to buy something but I'm cheap.

 

I've only got experience of the Schuberth one made by Cardo. It's good for calls unless your doing over 70 then the wind noise gets too much.

 

I have the dual pack of the SMH-10's mentioned above. Very awesome, no complaints. We have one on my wife's helmet, one on mine, so that we can talk while she's on her bike and I'm on mine, or when we are both riding, since they connect to each other wirelessly.

<edit> oh, and Sena just released a new firmware update for the SMH-10's, which enabled a whole bunch of new features. Sena seems to be pretty good about supporting their products after launch. </edit>

 

The Sena is great, I have 3 of them. My sis bought a Cycle Gear special for $79 and returned it a week later. The Sena works well, and they are constantly updating the firmware.
You can also buy extra speaker/mic accessories if you have more than one helmet. For about $30-$35, you can get another mic/speaker set.
It takes 20 minutes or so to get it all put in and adjusted, so it's not something you'd casually pull out to stick in another helmet.

 

I am a fan of Cardo Products.. I have had 4 of their different products and I would recommend every one except the Cardo SRCS for the Schuberth. I have had SEVEN failures and warranty swaps on that one due to the way they are wired internally. The ideal Cardo product for you and yours would be the "Teamset" of the Q1, their most recent and affordable product. I have the Q3 which is nearly the same but has better rider to rider range. The Q1 is intended as rider to passenger with something like a 10 meter maximun range. Highly Recommend!

 

i bought me a vega helmet with a built in blue tooth summit3.0 works great

 

How's the wind noise on that helmet.. I picked up a pair of V-Tunes last summer and they are without a doubt the noisiest helmet I've ever worn. The BT is completely useless above about 35mph

 

I bought the sena smh10r paired set for about 350usd. So youll have to shell out another £50 or so. These things are great. Links with several riders at once. My smart phone and ipod both link without issues and the three large glove friendly buttons are easy to use. They are typical line of sight devices in town and city environments but out in the open I have been able to reach the limitations and go a bit beyond before disconnect happens. Battery life is very good and these can be charged by any usb charger that supplies 500mA or more. So even your laptop can charge it. Now for a bonus, you can share music or each can have their own. This pauses during intercom and phone use. As for quality, I have made several calls while riding and the other person didnt even know I was on my bike.

I know these are expensive, but youll be very happy with them.

I picked up the Sena SMH 5 dual set last year and am really pleased with the result. $230 Aussie at the post classic bike races in Sydney so it may have been a race day special. still very happy with the end result.

Sorry about the old thread, but I went with uclear. No boom mike. Works great when taking calls, helmet to helmet..music.. doesn't get loud enough that it drowns out cars and sirens, but enough that it can be heard at 65/70 MPH.

 

Sena Smh5-fm for me. 750 meter range and smaller than the smh10 but with a FM tuner built in. Fairly cheap too.
