I just got a (used) Scorpion end can for my VFR 800 Fi-1 (it came off an Fi also, but not sure what model). I am just wondering if I need anything done (engine wise) when fitting? I will be getting my mechanic to do this (and a service at the same time) - just wondering if there is any tweeking that needs to be done when the can is fitted.. (I am not mechanically minded..). Thanks, R.
There is no need to pay a mechanic to put that can on for you. I mean, if he does it for free thats one thing. But if he wants to charge you anything for that, skip it. There is literally one bolt on the exhaust clamp, and one on the passenger footpeg. There will be a metallic gasket on the collector, cut or scrape it off and put your replacement can on. If you haven't the tools, thats one thing. But to pay someone to switch the cans on a 5th gen just isn't worth it.
getting it serviced at the same time..was just wondering if the engine needed some additional tuning; from your answer it appears not.. Ta..
Nah, if you are just putting a can on it there is no tuning that is needed. Now if you were getting new headers that eliminate the catalytic converter, removing the pair valve and de-snorkling - then I would recommend a power commander and custom map.
