I was riding around this afternoon and decided to stop for a bit at a local park. It just so happens that a couple of fells riding V Stroms stopped by as well. We chatted for a bit as they were very interested in the VFR. I can see why, just look how lame the Suzuki machines look beside the 07.

I have to agree, and I've owned both V Stroms, but that was before I was saved.
Hope all is well in Moncton.

Hard to beat the look of the RWB, especially one with white wheels and an 8 spoke to boot!

The white wheels and 8-spokes really make the SSS stand out. As capable as the V-Strom is, it can't compete with that.

It's funny because they were skeptical about the ergos on the VFR even when they could see how upright my riding position was. I would be willing to bet that the turbulence off the V-strom windscreen would drive me nuts but I've never thrown a leg over one. The one bike had a set of pelican cases for saddle bags that looked functional but wouldn't fit a helmet, not even close.

They had just come from the Motorplex where they were looking at a BMW 800 that had a sticker price near 15k and that's probably without accessories so add 2k for bags and such. Too close to a new Multistrada to even consider in my opinion and then they would have something with style as well as way more power and passion. Personally I don't think you need to spend more than 7k (on a used bike) to put a big smile on your face. After all it's only new for about a day at the most and then it's just another used bike.

On a different but similar note, have you guys seen any new Multis on the street? I saw one in town they other day and it was so quiet! I was disapointed because I couldn't hear that big twin rumble but I bet a nice Termigioni exhaust would fix that but good!

Speaking of the V Stroms, I just traded my wife's 650 in on a 2009 Ninja 650 all set up to tour. It almost feels like a toy. Her confidence level is already up a couple of notches and the sticky tires get put on tomorrow.
Saw lots of Multi's in the showroom, shall I Fed Ex one to you, they are beautiful.

Rob, when you get a chance could you post a picture of the wife's bike set up for touring? I think those are pretty cool machines.

Hey Scub, would of loved to have made it for R3, but I gotta make hay while the sun shines.

I just confirmed a family trip to Panama this winter, hoping my 3 girls open up to moving there next summer. A little beach town of Gorgona. I'm getting tired of our winters, I got some health issues that makes them tough on me.

Hi John, it seems to be a pretty good all around bike. The inline twin has a bit of a snarl to it, it's more upright then the VFR and it likes tight corners.

I'm a little picture challenged but here she goes.

I test rode a v-strom 650 aka wee strom. It's got a cult like following.

It felt like cheap garbage- and don't get me wrong I can see why it's liked if you live near fire roads or just get jollies from riding a dirt bike.

But oh man I was SO happy to throw my leg back over my vfr and I was still getting used to the Hondas stock ergos back then.

My vfr is dialed in much better now but even in stock form it's a *MACHINE* and there is NO comparison in feel.

Thank you sir for flipping those pictures, and thanks Rob for posting them. I like the "Green Machine" , what's the seat height like compared to your VFR?

    Thanks VFR Love.

John: I believe the spec is 31.1 but it feels even lower. I'm more then flat footed at 5'10" and a 31" inseam.

Compared to the VFR it is more then noticeably shorter. I had them check to see if a lowering link was on it.

I rode a friends V-Strom 1000 on the highway. Passing semi's got exciting as the buffeting was horrible.
