There are two events coming up in May both in west North Carolina.
The "TexasMac" or Tmac event will basically run the entire week before and during Memorial Day weekend in Franklin NC. Big event for the www.vfrdiscussion members.
There is also an event called the SGT (Spring Get Together) Which is mainly aimed at 1st generation Honda V4's IE Magnas, Sabres and Interceptors. More and more sport bikes are showing up for this event. The dates for this event are May 14th-18th and held at the Blue Ridge Motorcycle Campground which is about 30 mins east of Waynesville, NC. (U.S. 276) The campground is very close to the Blue Ridge Parkway. A lot of great roads in that area too.

Wicked Road.. I'm sure everyone saw the Documentary about it on A&E or whatever channel....

I can't believe after all the stats on deaths and issues that they still allow trucks to use legally....

I'd love to go check it out but what a hike from the PNW for 11 miles...

Just a question; has anyone ever ridden route 28 from Almond, NC to 129? I know the "Dragon" gets all the press, but this looks like a good road, too:

28 is the road that I messed around on this past week. Never even went to the Dragon it was that fun. The section I was on was fantastic (either side of Frankin). The only real issues I have with the roads in that area (at least those I was on) is that they are VERY, VERY narrow and VERY unforgiving of screw-ups and if you get close to the double yellow you are gonna get whacked as none on 4 wheels pays attention to them.

Great to know, Garrett! That seals it for me. I'll be hitting that up the next time I pass through there.

Yes, 28>129 imo. Much more fun without the circus. North of Franklin is better than the section to/from highlands, mainly because the traffic is usually worse between Franklin and Highlands and there is some pretty wicked drop offs if you screw up. They have improved them though, by putting up decent guardrails, not the freakin pavers that use to line the edge:dread:
