You're welcome. I, in turn, must express my admiration for your willingness to become the ShervinRRR of the VFR World forum. Perhaps next you'll show us some closeups of your home made torque hammer?

    Oh, you work for Harley-Davidson?

I'm going to be direct since you clearly have missed the point: fuck off. Nowhere did I say this is top notch work, worthy of praise, or even particularly pretty. I'm sharing what I've worked on because this is one of the few places it might get a little appreciation and perhaps I could give others some inspiration for their own work.

Your posts are the equivalent of "You're doing it wrong and you shouldn't have shared. It's not up to my standards therefore it's rubbish." It sounds like you're an aging and experienced engineer (or maybe machinist), good for you, I appreciate quality work and dedication, but that doesn't give you a valid excuse to be an asshole.

:bravo: Nice reply  come on! Even if someone axed you really really sweetly, you would'nt ship it to OZ? :pound:

An edmucation is a terrible thing to waste. Stay cool, This crazy dude that I used to know in NJ was a body and fender man who loved iron work. He had relatives in Newark that did ornamental iron, and he ended up oot-fitting a Dodge Ram with a tool body and an entire modile welding rig set-up. Talented as Fuk dude, but like I said above, he was a bastard. Cheers

Well, I certainly can't argue with that.

    You may find inspiration here.

Har har. You may have missed the part where this whole grab bar can be completely removed in a few minutes, the rack installs/uninstalls in less than a minute. I haven't permanently altered the bike, nor made it less structurally sound, at all.

FWIW, I think your design isn't bad and your welding skills seem reasonable. I just hate that it's crappy rebar.

    Thanks guys..I'm touched.

As a compromise so that my lofty position is not going to be usurped..Stainless tube would be great. The design is solid. Rebar with paint or powdercoat looks fine.

The dude drilling holes in his frame and license plate would do well to weigh the shards to see just how much lighter the bikd would be. Dudes were doing that to bikes a long time ago until it was proved a waste of time and in some cases not a really great idea.

Was I kidding aboot the chrome and skulls for harleydoods? Nope.. they love that shit.

Honestly, posting ugly shit on the internet and getting butthurt when people tell you it's fugly is like moving to Detroit and complaining when you get robbed.

I don't give a shit that you think it's ugly, that's entirely expected. What bothered me is that you acted like you were doing us all a service by bringing it up and then insulting me, as if trying to knock me down a peg is somehow constructive. You dislike something, good for you, but acting like you have a duty to inform self aware adults that their products for their own personal use are below your standards is pretentious. Would I build something like this for a customer? Only if that's what they requested. I've a short list of people I care to satisfy, and it's nothing personal, but none of you are on it. The simple fact that I can carry work tools and water jug now makes me glad I made this. Taking the bike to work means I save 50% on fuel costs vs driving my pickup. As a side note, I got 49.6mpg riding out to camp this weekend, my best so far with this bike.

I'm not familiar with this 'torque hammer', I haven't been around here very long and for now I don't dig around a lot.

Billy, it would be way easier to weight the bike untouched, then drilled, rather than weigh the shavings lol

Probably. Been kinda on edge with regard to assholes since Friday some wife abuser turned on me and started yelling at me, putting words in my mouth, then calling me a liar when I denied the bullshit he tried to pass off as my word, got up in my face, told me I'm 'just a construction worker' and nothing special, got no fucking right to talk to him blah fucking blah. I called the police, his wife thanked me for intervening, he tried to leave with her (I assume to avoid contact with the police), chewing her ass all the way. Turns out she didn't file charges and they gave them a free ride home. Fuck that guy for being a worthless sack of shit, fuck that bitch for putting up with him, and fuck the police for rewarding bad behavior with free cab service. Not putting you in the same category as that dick, but my patience is thin.

The women never do follow through because they love their man and he will change. Word of advice. Unless you have ample people to back you, do not intervene in a domestic dispute. They will both turn on you.

Do't be too critical of the cops for giving them a ride away. Its done all the time just to separate adversaries. You became one the moment you did what you thought was right. And as far as I am concerned, was right.

BTW. You're not "just" a construction worker. Construction workers built my home where my wife and I live and raised to great kits who have their own homes, built by constructions workers.

I was very close to calling the police first, but thought I'd give the guy a chance to reflect on his douchebaggery. He simply got worse so I called the police anyway. Now I know firsthand. It simply baffles me how someone so narcissistic can survive so long. He even tried to cut me down with "Are you married?!", "I was", "So you can't even handle your own fucking marriage so blah blah blah" yeah obviously he's doing a bang up job and wouldn't know that my wife was an abusive bitch. But obviously my failed marriage was all my fault. Typical abusive asshole, paint everyone as the worst and elevate yourself to god status.

Pretty much. While she didn't this time, I've heard others say that happens a lot and I believe it.

The cops were going to be called regardless. There was a shop full of concerned employees within 25 feet. After said douchebag tucked tail and 'ran' one of the techs ran over and asked if I called the police. They were clearly gearing up for some shit, too.

I'm well aware, but thanks. And while it's just a job to tide me over til I finish my degree (which will be soon), it's honest work and I fully realize there's no reason to assume someone doing this kind of work is stupid or inferior in any way. It does draw some scurvy characters, but some really good people, too. Now union guys on the other hand... XD Gf and I saw the Lego Movie for the first time, which was hilarious btw (Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson?! madness). We had a good laugh when the empty headed hero said to everyone "I'm just a construction worker" and the phrase has become a joke on our job site. I'll buy the movie just for that.
