Just picked up an 07 RWB ABS model this past Saturday.

Still have an 02 919 that I have been wanting to upgrade. Truth be told I was lusting after Thruxton's and Ducati Monter's, but just didnt have the budget. Always have been interested in the VFR's, and once a local shop got one (in a color I wasnt thrilled about) I thought a test ride would be harmless. Two days later, it is in my garage. LOVED the ride. Reminded me of my beloved F4i's with more grunt. Would have preferred black or white, but the Anniv editionis growing on me.

Only rode it home and to church, so a total of 20 miles. However this Thursday I am in for a 4 hour ride with some buddies for camping and kayaking, so we will have a good time to get to know one another.

Excited to learn more about this bike.

My came in with a two brothers pipe (MEAN!), 6k miles for $4500. I am in search of a corbin and a seat cowl. Also came with hard bags, not sure if I will use those.

Check your tires for wear and DOM. Check your R/R. They fail.

Maybe sell the bags and hardware here. I don't think a kayak will fit in them anyway..;)

Welcome! Don't be sold on the Corbin so quickly....most prefer the Sargent seat over the Corbin.

    Pics?

Just added pics, hopefully it worked.

Sargent huh? I LOVED the corbin on my 919. I am 6'5 so I appreciated the added height, will the sargent add a bit of height too? Sargent's certainly are a bit more economical.

R/R is regulator/rectifier. Do a search here for "The Drill"...you should do that sooner rather than later. ...

You got the bike I wanted. I wanted an ABS Anniversary edition but ended up with the Candy Red Glory. Sweet bike!

I wouldn't be too quick to get rid of those hard bags. Those of us who don't or did not have them, only wished we did. They were an option I discounted when I bought mine, only to buy used OEM bags several years later. Could not be happier.
$4500 for an 07 with only 6K miles. I think you scored a good one unless the clock has gone around once. If you have the original tires on that bike, they were crap in the first place and are old enough in any event, they should be swapped out. Everyone has their preference on tires. I like Michelin for my style of riding. My 7th set of tires by now should be waiting for me at home. These will be my 5th set of Michelin's. Seems like a lot of tires to go through but my 06 has about 110K miles. All my miles.

Initially I was not fond of the RWB look, but after seeing them more, I sure did warm up to them. Anything really, so long as it is not red. OK I said it....bring it on reddies.

You got a great find. You have many years of enjoyment coming your way with this bike. Welcome to the site. Ride safe.

$4500 for a RWB with the bags and ABS seems like an awesome price to me. I say well done! As others mentioned, don't be so quick to unload those hard bags. They are factory, match the paint, and you might actually want them down the road when you realize the VFR is capable of gobbling up road all day long. But if you decide to sell, I'm sure you'll get plenty of takers around here.

I really liked my Corbin. Seems that most here lean towards the Sargent, but the Corbin worked for me. Either way, most agree the stock seat sucks balls.

As for your R/R, the 2006 and later models were not nearly as prone to failure as prior years. I think Honda finally smartened up and moved the R/R towards the front to get some better airflow across it and help keep things cool. That doesn't mean its invincible, but it was definitely better. Here's a link to the thread with all you care to know about R/R, stators, and the charging system.

Thanks, good to know I got a good deal. Note, the clutch side fairing is scratched, that helped on price. Looking to repair or replace this winter.

Definitely keeping bags for a while.

Thanks for all the friendly welcomes! Looking forward to contribute, now someone buy my 919!

    Did pics show up?

DOM is just that. Bike tires do not last as long as car tires. Many are partially done up by hand. Tires that old, if they are OEM are past their useful life. All the tire manufacturers have websites with tons of info.

The opinions on the "best" tires here are just that. Old, hard or worn tires on a bike will bite you in the ass especially with a 100hp motorcycle capable of well over 125mph in short order.

Being optimistic about R/R failure is flat out foolish. They fail and when this happens you stop and replace the POS with another. This is just the beginning.. Tow charges, a day or two or three in a crappy motel, the local Honda shop is closed and doesn't have one in stock anyway, meals as Whataburger, missed work ($$$).

Great deal on the bike and for what you saved get the right stuff for it and you. You are not alone..

Great find with the RWB. And i agree with the other folks - don't get rid of the bags. You'll appreciate them. At least i like mine.
The VFR is so much better on the highway than the 919. You will really enjoy that difference.
But the 919 has it's good points and is really quick. For me i kept my 919 when i bought my VFR. I didn't want to give up the cooler naked riding around town.
We will miss you over at wristtwisters!

Oh I'm not leaving wrist twisters, too cool of a forum. I will keep the bags too. Just used them to call for a 4 hour trip to kayak, they hold more than i could have imagined.

Unfortunately I'm going to find out if they're water proof :-(

The Corbin is a really heavy seat compared to stock or the Sargent, and more importantly, I'm pretty sure the seat cowl doesn't fit on the Corbin. It definitely will fit the Sergant.
