WHEW what a week since I bought the bike! I picked her up in Baltimore on Saturday and got her home, and then took a ride, and another, and another and you all know how that goes. Well I did a 66 mile bicycle ride on Sunday with about 2500 others around Lancaster County in the rain on Sunday. Monday was back to work and then once home, prep for a trip to Bar Harbor Maine. Left at 2:00AM Tuesday and got home a few hours ago. The VFR did not come with.

A little bit more about the bike.

I found the VFR listed on cycletrader. it is an 07 actually. Original post had a typo. It is the Candy Apple Red in color and is also an ABS version with 2490 on the odometer. Not brand new but with those miles... It's a new bike for me. Not missing a single thing that is supplied when buying the bike brand new. Tool kit, manual, both keys with cut tag included. First bike I have ever purchased where i didn't have to find some stupid factory supplied items when the bike was sold new!

Now get this... I inquired about this bike on a Sunday. Monday, nothing, Tuesday, nothing, Wednesday, 11:00AM, I get a short email, followed by a missed call 3 minutes later. It is a sales rep from Petes Cycle. Said to all him ASAP if I am interested. I did so and he said it was sold but the deal fell through today (wife found out!). Did some quick number crunching and saw I could do this for X amount of dollars and went to my bank over lunch. Got approved for what I needed, call them back and put 100 down over the phone via credit card.

They sent a different amount to my lender than I was given so I called the dealer back and it was just a miscommunication and was quickly straightened out.

    There is more...

He said I could not have had better timing to get financing and put something down to hold the bike and the stars must have aligned and this bike was meant to be mine on that day. I can't go into the details of everything that I was told but the guy who was denied the bike by his wife, was suddenly allowed to get it... but showed up 30 minutes after I put money down which kind of made his day do a flip flop. All I will say about his reaction based upon what I was told over the phone was he was not happy, at all, and sales reps and customers in the store were aware of his unhappiness at that moment. photo (1).jpg

To the potential buyer before me, If you are a member here, all I can say is best of luck in your search. I missed deals before but only to have others bubble up later on down the road.

Wow that sucker is clean! I am glad you got her in tip top shape.

Do you ever venture up to Ephrata for the breakfast ride thing they do or any other of those types of events? If you do, let me know and we meet up to ride to one.
